Daguan is located in the Wumeng Mountains of northeast Yunnan, which is an area with relatively slow economic and social development. "Improving the conditions for running schools and allowing children to study well at home" has become one of the important goals of "group" assistance.
"On the brand-new football field, the teenagers are galloping, galloping, galloping on the grass, and the football is spinning and jumping in the air in the mountains, throwing themselves into the embrace of heaven and earth......" This is a poem written on the side of the sports field of Daguan County No. 1 Middle School, the author is Xia Jianjun, a Chinese teacher at Minhang Middle School who will come to Daguan to teach in 2023, and the title of this poem is called "Thirty-eight Years of Waiting". As the poem says, the children of Daguan No. 1 Middle School have been looking forward to playing a game of football on the school's sports field for 38 years.
The county seat of Daguan is built on a mountain, and there is hardly a flat land in the city, and the largest square is only the size of three or four basketball courts. Daguan No. 1 Middle School was founded in 1939, and when the school was first built, it covered an area of less than 10 acres. After decades of development, by 2017, the school covered an area of 60 acres. When the teachers and students were at their highest, there were more than 4,700 students, and the shortage of teachers and the large class size corresponded to the serious shortage of student sports fields, and the teachers and students of the whole school only had two sports fields the size of basketball courts. The turning point occurred in 2021 - on June 24 of that year, the Shanghai-Yunnan cooperation of Shanghai's counterpart to help Zhaotong was officially signed, and the Zhaotong Group of the Shanghai Cadre Liaison Group for Aiding Yunnan officially settled in Zhaotong.
On September 26, 2022, the sports ground of Daguan No. 1 Middle School broke ground. On August 15, 2023, the sports field was put into use just in time for the start of school. The new playground built halfway up the mountain seems to have been born, with a towering hillside on one side and a cliff with a drop of tens of meters on the other.
