Qingcheng: Look up at the vast universe and embrace the infinite future

On the afternoon of June 20, in the series of activities of the Light of Science and Technology Youth Lecture Hall held by the Qingcheng County Committee of the Communist Youth League, Wang Siwen, a cadre of the County Association for Science and Technology, gave a vivid science lesson to the students as the vice president of science of Qingcheng Vocational Secondary School.

In the class, Wang Siwen started from the summer solstice in the 24 solar terms, and carried out observation and discussion with students about the sunrise and sunset before and after the summer solstice, the direction of the sun in the sky, the length of day and night, etc., and explained to the students the physical knowledge such as the intersection of yellow and red, the equinox and the solstice, the Tropic of Cancer, and the polar day and night, so as to introduce the theme of the class: the glorious development of ancient Chinese astronomy.

Wang Siwen introduced to the students in detail the germination, start, and development of ancient Chinese astronomy, as well as the application and outstanding contributions of astronomy in people's production and life. It also explained the stories of scientists who have passed on the torch from generation to generation of scientists such as Luo Xiahong, Zu Chongzhi, and Guo Shoujing, and continuously pushed Chinese astronomy to new heights.

This science class not only allowed the students to understand the basic knowledge of astronomical science in mainland China, but also stimulated their interest and enthusiasm for science. Wang Siwen encouraged students to persevere in their studies no matter when and where they are, and to embrace the future with confidence and hope. The students said one after another that they should work harder to study scientific knowledge and contribute their own strength to the mainland's scientific and technological progress and development.
