"I discovered this winter melon variety in Hainan in 2019, and the yield is very high, so I wanted to introduce it to Huangpi at that time, so that local farmers can increase their income by planting hanging winter melon." Ming Yangyang, the head of the Ming Manor Family Farm, is a veteran who has been engaged in vegetable and fruit wholesale in Hainan and other places, and returned to his hometown in 2020 to transfer more than 100 acres of land to develop fruit and vegetable planting.
Due to the lack of planting experience and the very large gap between the local climate and Hainan, the first two trials failed. At the beginning of 2024, Ming Sunshine actively participated in the fruit and vegetable planting training courses organized by the agricultural department and the street of Huangpi District, changed the traditional planting methods in the past, and used three-dimensional scaffolding to plant black-skinned hanging winter melons, so that the winter melons can be fully exposed to sunlight during the growth period, avoid the "white skin" phenomenon in the grounding part, and the winter melons planted are full and green, with high nutritional content. At present, the farm's 10 acres of black-skinned hanging winter melons have been harvested, and the large, good-quality winter melons sell well in Huangpi and Wuhan's major farmers' markets and some university canteens.
