"At the end of May, we began to dig lotus roots, and the purchase price of 12 yuan/kg was considerable." The secretary of the general party branch of Diaoyu Village, Zhangjia Town, said at the scene of lotus root picking, and the village planted more than 2,000 acres of double-season lotus root, with an average yield of 400-500 kilograms per mu.
In an agricultural product company in Zhangjia Town, agricultural tricycles full of lotus roots have driven into the wide processing workshop, and more than 30 workers have divided labor and cooperated, and the thick lotus roots have been cleaned by the lotus root washing machine and sent to the conveyor belt running slowly; The workers cut off the excess rhizomes of the lotus roots, put them into the basket, and the workers on the side poured the lotus roots after the initial washing, cutting and sorting into the clear water pool to clean them again, loaded them into the fresh-keeping box, and loaded them into the sales market.
Walking into the lotus root mining site in Qinglong Township, Pingle County, the roar of diesel engines came and went, and seven or eight professional lotus pickers wearing one-piece water pants were operating high-pressure water guns to dig lotus roots. About an hour later, with a smile on his face, the lotus root farmer pulls the boats full of lotus roots to the side of the road, loads them onto the truck, and sends them to the purchase point.
"Lotus root harvesting usually starts early in the morning and ends at noon, and the lotus root harvested on the same day is delivered to the foreign market for wholesale on the same day, so that the fresh lotus root has a good price." Lotus root farmer said.
This year, Pingle County has integrated planting resources with the model of "association + base + farmer", built an ecological demonstration area for continuous planting of characteristic agricultural products in advantageous agricultural product producing areas according to local conditions, and actively promoted the planting of advantageous agricultural products such as double-season lotus root. In the first half of this year, the county's high-quality double-season lotus root planting area of more than 10,000 mu, with an output of more than 4.5 million kilograms and an output value of more than 50 million yuan.
