Recently, the staff of Gongma National Nature Reserve in Changsha, Sichuan Province and the biodiversity and ecological adaptation research team of China West Normal University photographed the predation activity of a golden eagle sub-adult when they carried out a biodiversity survey in Shiqu County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan.

In the picture, a golden eagle waits patiently at the entrance of the marmot and pika, motionless and observes the activities of its prey, and will immediately attack if a prey escapes from the hole.

According to the team leader, the golden eagle is a national first-class protected wild animal. The clear foraging photos of golden eagles were taken on the grassland at an altitude of 4,370 meters above sea level in Shiqu County, which not only confirmed the distribution of golden eagles in Shiqu County, but also reflected the remarkable results of the protection of local rare wild animals, laying a solid foundation for the conservation of biodiversity in Shiqu County.
