AMD Zen5 New Motherboard Popularizes USB4! But wait two more months

author:Bee sharp screws

On June 28th, it was reported that the AMD Zen5 architecture of Ryzen 9000 series is still AM5 package interface, compatible with existing 600 series motherboards, but there will also be a new generation of 800 series, but it will be two months later than the processor.

According to the current news, the Ryzen 9000 series is basically locked in July 31 for official listing, and the X870E and X870 motherboards will not be available until September 30.

The two-month gap period obviously still belongs to X670E, X670, B650E, B650, and you only need to flash a BIOS to get a new processor.

As for why it has been staggered for so long, it should be waiting for the motherboard manufacturers to fully prepare the new products, and also leaving a certain amount of time for the old motherboard to reduce prices and clear inventory.

Interestingly, the Ryzen 9000X3D series is also said to be released around the end of September, but not necessarily immediately.

The 800 series motherboards continue the 600 series (codenamed Promontory 21) in hardware, but only some specifications have been upgraded, and the biggest changes are the standard USB4 interface, standard PCIe 5.0 x16 graphics card slot, support for higher EXPO DDR5 memory frequency, and new designs from manufacturers.

X870E is still a dual-chip design, except for USB4 interface, EXPO high frequency and X670E almost no difference, the graphics card itself supports PCIe 5.0 (although it has never been used), SSD also continues to support PCIe 5.0, and the expansion continues to provide 12 PCIe 4.0, 8 PCIe 3.0.

X870 has changed a lot, it is no longer the same as X670 is a dual chip, but simplified to a single chip, so it will shrink in terms of PCIe expansion, becoming 8 PCIe 4.0, 4 PCIe 3.0, of course, it will definitely be a lot cheaper.

后续还会有主流的B850、B840。

Among them, B850 is similar to the current B650, almost the only difference is that the graphics card slot is upgraded to PCIe 5.0, in addition to USB4 is still optional, the number of PCIe expansion remains unchanged, and the processor and memory can also be overclocked.

The B840 is very special, it uses the new lite chip Promontory 19, which does not support processor overclocking (but can overclock memory), the graphics card and SSD are both PCIe 4.0, does not support USB4, and the expansion only supports 8 PCIe 3.0.

There is no new board for the entry-level level, continue with the A620, A620A.
