Hong Kong Wen Wei Po recently interviewed eight of the first batch of police officers in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), who come from different police districts and ranks, but all of them are serving the public in their own posts.
Among them, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Public Relations) Chan Si-tat, Deputy Regional Commander of Marine Police Yip Chi-man and Senior Superintendent Chan Kong-ming of the Narcotics Bureau are the first batch of probationary inspector trainees after the establishment of the HKSAR, gathering for interviews like a 97 alumni reunion, there are endless stories of the past, intertwined into the 27-year footprints of the HKSAR Police Force, the most memorable is undoubtedly the thrilling anti-riot scene in 2019, Chan Sida is like a thunderbolt rescuer, going straight to the No. 2 bridge of the Chinese University occupied by rioters to rescue Chen Jiangming. At the same time, it has also become an opportunity for the enactment of the National Security Law in Hong Kong, making Hong Kong more and more secure, prosperous and stable.

Chen Sida, Ye Zhiwen and Chen Jiangming rarely got together and greeted each other: "You have not changed." They all entered the Police Academy on 21 July 1997 for training and were among the first batch of Probationary Inspectors after the establishment of the HKSAR Government.
The alternation of the great times makes me feel that the mission is more important
They feel infinitely honored to be chosen by the Great Era. Chan said that after returning to the motherland, Hong Kong must be better to be worthy of the country, "At that time, joining the police force had a greater responsibility than any police officer of the previous era. Ye Zhiwen said: "It can really be said that I am the master of the house, and I feel very happy." Chen Jiangming stressed that becoming a Hong Kong police officer has a special sense of mission, "The return to the motherland is a new chapter of our police department, and it is a change of great era. ”

The original intention of the three of them to join the police force was because they had witnessed the evil and injustice of the triad when they were children, and they had a sense of mission like evil since childhood.
Chen Sida fought with the old boy when he was in the fourth year of secondary school. At that time, he went to the machine shop to play the machine, and someone hit him for no reason, and the other party even said in a commanding tone: "Hey, boy, help my big guy take it!" was rejected by Chen Sida, and the other party "confiscated" his silver coins. Chen Sida left immediately, and when he ran two streets away, he saw an assault car asking for help from the police officers, and arrested the old boy, and since then he has been determined to become a police officer who fights violence and is peaceful.
Defending CUHK and Infrastructure, Unforgettable "Rapid Rescue"
Police work has never been as simple as the childhood "my volunteer" essay, especially in recent years, under the flood of external forces, Hong Kong before the national security law came into effect into a dark era of reversal of right and wrong, with the illegal "Occupy Central" and the 2019 black riots, Chen Sida has been on the front line, witnessing some people seem to be collectively hypnotized, disregarding the law and discipline, abusing the freedom of expression, and even turning into extreme violence, I feel saddened by this, "I think it's a pity that those people did not cherish their rights, but abused it." ”
In November 2019, when a protester mob threw debris at the No. 2 bridge of CUHK to block the road, Chen Jiangming led the response team to support, but the crowd was thin, and the rioters' archery endangered the safety of the police.
As a former CUHK student, Chen Sida said with emotion: "We entered CUHK because they affected the traffic on the Tolo Highway and proposed to the university that if we could ensure that students no longer throw debris on the Tolo Highway and affect the normal traffic, I could go. ”
"There is nothing to say, but the management did not want to see any side hurt, so they finally ordered the evacuation, and the consequence was that the Tolo Highway was paralyzed for a week and the residents of New Territories East suffered," Chan said. ”
He later self-examined, but found that under the invasion of external forces, the development of the situation was difficult to completely control, "Fortunately, there were no serious casualties among colleagues at that time, and we controlled the situation and did not spread the scope of influence." ”
The National Security Law rebuilds public confidence
The black violence has become an indelible pain in Hong Kong, but at the same time, it has brought an opportunity for the promulgation and implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law. However, when Hong Kong society is gradually returning to calm, the new crown epidemic has been encountered, and criminals will not stop committing crimes because of the epidemic, Chen Jiangming, who has many years of criminal investigation experience, said that the investigation was affected at that time, "Many shops are not open, and it is difficult to chase CCTV, and the second is that special epidemic prevention measures must be taken to arrest suspects." ”
Although Yip Chi-man stayed behind at the Marine Police to take charge of logistics during the riots, he took over the revitalization of the Police Museum after the riots, and spent more than two years to rejuvenate the Museum and rebuild the positive image of the Force to the public.
