A Brief History of Modern and Contemporary Painting (1900-1949) is a magnificent artistic journey. During this period, traditional Chinese painting and Western art concepts blended and collided, giving rise to many new genres and styles. The Shanghai School of Painting led the fashion with its unique style, and the artistic exploration after the Xinhai Revolution further promoted the modernization process of Chinese painting. The art of Chinese painting at this stage is both traditional and modern, full of infinite innovation and vitality.
Today is a special day, and we are going to share the classic paintings of the sculptor Cheng Yunxian.
Cheng Yunxian (1928-2005), male, sculptor and scholar, graduated from the Department of Chinese Literature of National Hubei Normal University (now Hubei University) in June 1949, and served as the director of the Sculpture Research Office of the Military Museum of the Chinese Revolution, a civilian general, a first-class artist, a consultant of the China Artists Association, and the fifth vice chairman of the China Artists Association.
Cheng Yunxian's sculptures are a treasure trove of modern sculpture art. His works show the demeanor of the characters with profound modeling skills and vivid body language, and depict their inner mentality, emotions, style and temperament. For example, the sculpture of "Mao Zedong, Zhu De, and Zhou Enlai" shows the great image and firm will of the leaders through delicate carving and precise form expression.
Cheng Yunxian's sculptures are not only highly ideological and artistic, but also full of yearning for peace, justice and a better life. His works, such as "Commemorative Portrait of a Girl of Peace", convey profound meanings through concrete images, and arouse the audience's thinking about peace and a better life.
Representative works include: bronze statue of the 100th anniversary of Mao Zedong's birth, bronze statue of Deng Xiaoping, bronze statue of Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao, bronze statue of the nine marshals of the Republic, stone statue of Bethune, floating statue of Tibetan girl, "Girl of Peace" and so on.
