Zhang Zhijie, a player of the Chinese youth badminton team, suddenly fainted on the court on June 30 when he participated in the last match of the group stage of the Asian Youth Badminton Championships in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and then died after rescue efforts failed. Before the start of the competition on July 1, the participating teams mourned for the unfortunate death of Zhang Zhijie.
