Through in-depth research and analysis of international schools across China, 100 international bilingual schools and 50 international schools with excellent comprehensive strength were selected in this selection to provide more valuable reference for families with international education needs.

Subjects of the study
For schools for children of foreign nationals and private bilingual schools in China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) that apply the international high school curriculum and whose students aim to study in overseas institutions of higher learning, the international departments of public schools, kindergartens for children of foreign nationals, and tuition centers are not included in the selection results.

Data source
The main sources of data for this selection are the 2023-2024 school data provided by each school to Forbes China and the collation of public information. In the "Public Information Collation" section, we searched the official websites of more than 1,000 international schools, the official WeChat official accounts, the official websites of several mainstream examination board authorized institutions, and the official websites of mainstream education accreditation agencies.

The top 10 regions in the annual selection of international bilingual schools
Schools in first-tier cities occupy 7 seats
The top 3 in this year's selection are Shanghai Private Pao Yugang Experimental School, Shenzhen University of International Exchange, and Beijing Keystone School. YK Pao School and Keystone School in Beijing ranked in the top 3 for the second year in a row, while Shenzhen College of International Exchange rose to 2nd this year with the excellent results of the previous academic year. Among the top 10, Shanghai Private Pinghe School, Guangdong Country Garden School, Shanghai International High School of World Foreign Chinese Middle School, Beijing Haijia Bilingual School, Shanghai Guanghua University Cambridge International Center, and Beijing Yuecheng International School are all established and strong schools. This year, UWC Changshu from Suzhou has been included in the Forbes China International School list for the first time, which is undoubtedly an impact on the position of the old and first-tier city schools.

Schools in new first- and second-tier cities continue to make efforts
Among the top 100 schools in this selection, Beijing and Shanghai have the most selected schools, with 23 and 30 schools respectively, while Guangzhou and Shenzhen have 6 schools each. Suzhou, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Tianjin, Wuhan, Chengdu, Hefei, Changsha, Nantong and other new first-tier and second-tier cities all have more than two schools selected, which is inseparable from the deep attention to international education, policy support, and city status of these cities. For example, Hefei's development policies such as science and education innovation have boosted the development of its international schools. The rest of the selected schools are mainly concentrated in prefecture-level cities in Jiangsu Province and Guangdong Province, and the international education background of these cities has made them the leading bilingual international schools in the country.

Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen
This year marks the first time that Forbes China has released the results of the independent international school rankings, with Dulwich College Beijing out, American International School Shanghai and Wellington College International Shanghai ranked the top three. Among the top 10 schools selected this year, three schools in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen were selected, and one school in Guangzhou was selected. In the current competitive landscape of international schools, first-tier cities still occupy an advantage in global educational resources. These schools have built a strong brand identity through excellent academic and teaching quality, unique educational philosophies and a wealth of international accreditations, particularly the Dulwich and Wellington College brands.
The distribution of the top 50 international schools in the annual selection of international schools
Provincial capitals and sub-provincial cities performed well
In this year's selection results, Shanghai is the city with the most selected schools, with 11 schools selected; Seven schools from Beijing and Guangzhou were selected each, reflecting their leading position in international education. Five schools in Shenzhen have been selected, and their international education level is rapidly rising. Three schools from Hangzhou, two from Chengdu and two from Nanjing have been selected, and these provincial capitals and sub-provincial cities have demonstrated outstanding performance in the field of international education. As a city with developed international education resources, Suzhou has 3 schools selected this time. In addition, Fuzhou, Tianjin, Wuhan, Chongqing, Dalian, Hefei, Foshan, Ningbo, Xi'an and Qingdao each had one school selected, highlighting the competitiveness of these cities in international education.
Among the 150 schools selected this time, the city with the largest number of selected schools is Shanghai, with a total of 41 schools selected, which is the second time that Shanghai has topped the list of selected schools after 2023. Shanghai is followed by Beijing (30), Guangdong (29), Jiangsu (15) and Zhejiang (11). This not only reflects the economic strength and policy support of these regions, but also demonstrates their success in attracting international educational resources and improving the quality of education.
