The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that "promoting green and low-carbon economic and social development is the key to achieving high-quality development. Hu Yaodong, manager of Yuguang Coal Power Generation Department, introduced that Yuguang Coal Power's 2×1000MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired air-cooled generator set was put into operation in August 2021. The unit adopts a series of new technologies and new applications such as zero wastewater discharge and three-in-one tower, which greatly reduces the emission of pollutants such as carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, soot and nitrogen oxides, and fully meets the requirements of the latest national industrial policies such as energy saving, environmental protection, high efficiency and recycling.
Three-in-one, ultra-low emissions
At this stage, coal power accounts for about 70% of the total electricity generation in the mainland. Improving the thermal efficiency of thermal power units, reducing primary energy consumption, reducing emissions, and promoting the progress of coal-fired power generation technology have always been the focus of industry development, and "large-scale, high-parameter, and clean" coal-fired power production has become the development direction of clean energy. In the context of rapid technological innovation, ultra-supercritical coal-fired power generation technology with "high efficiency and low emission" has emerged.
What is ultra-supercritical coal-fired power generation technology? "Ultra-supercritical" refers to the state of the medium, and "critical" refers to the minimum transition condition from one state or physical quantity to another. For thermal power generation, the popular explanation is to use coal to "boil water", so that the water becomes water vapor with a certain pressure and temperature, which drives the steam turbine to rotate, thereby driving the generator to generate electricity. According to the principle of thermodynamics, the higher the steam pressure and temperature parameters, the higher the power generation efficiency. In the field of coal power production, at a pressure of 22.115 MPa and a temperature of 374.15°C, water vapor is compressed to the same density as liquid water, a condition known as the critical parameter of water. Above this parameter, it is called a supercritical parameter, and above the supercritical pressure parameter, the steam temperature is not lower than 580 °C, it is called ultrasupercritical. The power generation technology that uses such steam to propel the work of the steam turbine unit is the ultra-supercritical coal-fired power generation technology.
"Scientific transformation, scientific and technological innovation, and promoting the upgrading of the traditional thermal power industry are the meaning and purpose of our efforts, and it is also the trend of the times." Li Zhen, Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of Yuguang Coal Power, introduced that the 2×1000MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired air-cooled power generation project of Yuguang Coal Power makes full use of the advantages of our province as a major coal province and energy base, transforms the operation mode of extensive coal utilization of traditional coal power projects, and explores a clean and efficient coal power generation mode. It adopts high-parameter, large-capacity, environmentally friendly and high-efficiency coal-fired units, with a main steam pressure of 29.4MPa, a temperature of 605 °C, and a reheat steam temperature of 623 °C. Introduce high-efficiency, energy-saving and environmental protection technologies such as three-in-one towers and zero wastewater discharge to improve power generation and heating efficiency and reduce coal consumption. It has become the lowest coal-burning thermal power unit in China, with a standard coal consumption of only 289g/kW·h, which is about 30g lower than that of conventional thermal power units.
Last year, Yuguang coal-fired power generation capacity was 9.5 billion kilowatt hours, heat supply was 3.45 million gigajoules, and carbon reduction of 390,000 tons, which can save about 290,000 tons of standard coal compared with traditional thermal power units. It has played a key role in improving the atmospheric environment in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, alleviating the power shortage situation of Hebei South Power Grid and promoting the sustainable economic development of Yangquan area.
Aim for the benchmark to activate the power
