Streptococcus pneumoniae can be described as "ubiquitous", which seriously threatens the health of children, especially infants and young children, and is an important pathogen causing severe pneumonia in children under 5 years old in mainland China.
Recently, in order to protect the health of children, better grasp the carrier status of Streptococcus pneumoniae in healthy children under the age of 5 in Shenhe District, and further prevent and control the harm of Streptococcus pneumoniae to children, the Second People's Hospital of Shenhe District, Shenyang City, with the assistance of the municipal and district centers for disease control and prevention, launched a project to investigate the carriage status of Streptococcus pneumoniae in healthy children under 5 years old.
In order to ensure the quality of the investigation project, the hospital carefully and meticulously carried out the preliminary investigation and the recruitment of research subjects, and organized relevant staff to actively participate in the project training held by the Shenyang Center for Disease Control and Prevention to be familiar with every aspect of the investigation. During the investigation, the staff patiently popularized the dangers of Streptococcus pneumoniae and the purpose and significance of this investigation to the children's guardians, and signed an informed consent form. According to the implementation plan of the survey project, 6 age groups were scientifically divided, electronic questionnaires were issued respectively, and nasopharyngeal swabs of survey subjects were collected at the same time, and the swab samples were transported and stored in strict accordance with the requirements of the cold chain.
After careful deployment and careful organization, the survey project received strong support and cooperation from the research subjects, and successfully completed the first phase of the survey sampling of 25 children, which further improved the ability of grassroots hospitals to carry out public health survey projects. In the next step, the Second People's Hospital of Shenhe District will continue to promote the progress of the project under the guidance of the superior departments, complete the survey target of 90 children as scheduled, provide targeted preventive health care guidance for the sampled children according to the sampling results, and appropriately adjust the prevention and control measures for the prevention and control of Streptococcus pneumoniae infection in children according to the overall analysis of the survey results, so as to escort the healthy growth of the majority of children.
