At 9:15 this morning, the first batch of relief materials worth 500,000 yuan, including 649 boxes of biscuits, 1,200 boxes of drinking water, and 940 boxes of eight-treasure porridge, arrived at the flood control and drought relief headquarters of Huarong County, Yueyang City, Hunan Province.
Alibaba also became the first company outside the province to deliver supplies to the site.
Considering that the local temperature in Huarong has risen to 35 degrees Celsius, and the people in the disaster area have greater needs for heatstroke prevention and hygiene, Alibaba donated 85 boxes of toilet water and 65 boxes of disinfectant water.
Alibaba said that in order to assist the flood-stricken areas in Hunan this year, it has previously donated more than 160,000 pieces of food supplies and more than 20 tons of purified water to Pingjiang and Luxi counties in Hunan.
