In 2013, under the policy guidance of the Party Committee and Government of Pingxiang Township, Zhang Xiang planted more than 500 acres of Imperial Ginseng. Now, it is the season when the Imperial Ginseng is ripe and harvested, and the cultivation of Imperial Ginseng can not only bring income to Zhang Xiang, but also drive the employment of the surrounding villagers, and 30 to 50 villagers come to the base every day to harvest the Imperial Ginseng.
"I can dig 70 catties to 80 catties of prince ginseng a day, and I can earn more than 100 yuan, which can meet the basic living expenses of our family." He Xuedan, a resident of Shiping Community, Shiping Township, told reporters.
The planting cycle of Pseudostellaria is 8 to 9 months, the market demand is large, the economic benefits are good, and the enthusiasm of the masses to participate in the development of the industry is very high. Since 2014, the planting scale of prince ginseng has increased year by year, driving the employment of more than 1,000 people.
"We have been engaged in the planting of Chinese medicinal materials for 11 years, mainly Yuanhu, Prince's ginseng, and three varieties of Qianhu, this year's Prince's ginseng market is good, the growth is good, it is a bumper harvest year, and the production capacity per mu is expected to achieve more than 1,000 catties." Zhang Xiang said.
"To revitalize the countryside, industry must go first. In recent years, the Shiping community has adopted the industrial development model of 'party branch + cooperative + farmer', so that the industrial development has momentum and the masses have hope for increasing income. Up to now, more than 500 acres of prince ginseng, more than 1,800 acres of Qianhu and more than 200 acres of Yuanhu have been planted in Shiping Township.
