Today (July 22), the mainland enters the last solar term of summer - the great heat.
This morning, the minimum temperature in the main urban area was as high as 31.0°C, the highest daily minimum temperature in July in the past 60 years, and the second highest daily minimum temperature in the past 60 years, second only to the 31.3°C on August 16, 2022.
With such a foundation, today, Hangzhou will launch an attack on the first 40°C of the year.
Hangzhou Meteorological Observatory issued a red warning signal for high temperature at 09:24 on July 22, 2024: Controlled by the subtropical high pressure, the maximum temperature in all streets in the main urban area is expected to reach about 40 °C today.
Early this morning, the province's high temperature red warning swiped the screen, from 8 a.m. ~ 11 a.m., a total of 35 high temperature red warnings were issued, setting a record for the most this year.
The heat is one of the hottest solar terms in the mainland, and at this time of the year, most of the heat in the mainland continues to escalate, not only the high temperature weather is frequent, but also prone to extreme heat.
Judging from the weather map released by China Weather Network during the summer heat, most of the southern regions are controlled by the subtropical high pressure, with frequent high temperatures and increased evaporation, which is prone to prevail and drought, especially along the Yangtze River. Throughout the year, Chongqing, Wuhan, Changsha, Nanchang and Hangzhou have the most high temperature days in the summer season. Local residents should pay attention to a light diet, eat some foods that clear heat and strengthen the spleen, pay attention to heatstroke prevention and cooling, and try to avoid activities in the scorching sun.
The perennial summer season is also the period when typhoons in the South China Sea and the Northwest Pacific are concentrated in the formation and landfall on the mainland.
The Central Meteorological Observatory said: This year's No. 4 typhoon "Paibian" has made landfall on the coast of Wanning City, Hainan Province at around 1:30 am on the 22nd, with a maximum wind force of 10 (28 m/s, severe tropical storm level) near the center at the time of landfall; At 8 o'clock this morning, the center of "Paibian" was located in Danzhou City, Hainan Province, and its intensity weakened slightly. Affected by it, yesterday, heavy to heavy rain occurred on Hainan Island, southeastern Guangxi, and southeastern Guangxi, and heavy rain in parts of central and southeastern Hainan Island; The eastern coast of Hainan Island and the southwestern coast of Guangxi Province have local gusts of 10~11.
Meteorological experts pointed out that "Paibian" had increased in intensity before making landfall on Hainan Island, and the cloud structure remained relatively intact. It is expected that on the morning of the 22nd, "Paibian" will move from Hainan Island to the Beibu Gulf, and its intensity will strengthen again, and tend to the border coast of Guangxi and Viet Nam on the mainland. In the next 24 hours, the rain will still be strong on Hainan Island, southeastern and southwestern Guangxi, and heavy rain (100~200 mm) will be in some areas of western Hainan Island and southern coastal Guangxi; Some of the above-mentioned areas are accompanied by strong winds of 8~9 and gusts of 10~11, and winds in some areas of the northeast of Beibu Gulf can reach 10 and gusts of 11~12. The Central Meteorological Observatory continues to issue a yellow warning for typhoons, and advises the public in Hainan, Guangdong, Guangxi and other areas that are greatly affected by typhoons to continue to take precautions against wind and rain, avoid approaching dangerous areas such as mountainous areas, river valleys and seasides, and pay attention to closing doors and windows indoors.
Due to the activities of the two typhoons "Gemei" and "Paibian" over the sea, the atmospheric circulation is complex, and there is still great uncertainty about the future path of "Gemei". Everyone should be highly vigilant and pay attention to the latest typhoon dynamics and forecast information in a timely manner.
However, no matter how the "Gemei" path goes, the impact on the coastal gale in Zhejiang is certain!
Today (22nd) affected by the periphery of Typhoon "Gemei", there are 8~9 gusts in the southeastern waters of the East China Sea, tomorrow on the 23rd, the wind in the East China Sea will gradually increase to 10~12, and the wind will continue to increase to 12~14 on the 24th-25th, and the 13~16 sea area near the center of the typhoon will be paid attention to by ships and all relevant parties.
According to the analysis of the Hangzhou Meteorological Observatory, Typhoon "Gemei", which can bring rain and cooling to Hangzhou, has undergone a major adjustment in its path today. This is due to the fact that the subtropical high on the north side of the typhoon is stronger than originally expected, resulting in a greater westerly component of the typhoon's movement direction in the later stage, which in turn causes the typhoon's track to shift southward. At present, the intensity of "Gemei" is still strengthening, and it is expected that the strongest will reach the strong typhoon level.
With the movement of the typhoon, it is expected that there will be rain in Hangzhou as early as the afternoon of the 24th, and the high temperature in Hangzhou is expected to be temporarily eased on the 25th and 26th.
