In the 2024-25 financial year, the 190/491 quota for skilled migrants in Australia's states and territories has been allocated, with a total of 26,260 quotas, an increase of 57% over the previous financial year and 260 more than the quotas previously disclosed by the Australian Financial Review (AFR).
NSW, Victoria and WA have the highest number of sponsored quotas, not only receiving the same number of quotas, but also distributing the same proportions.
The total state guarantee quota for each of the three states is 5,000, of which 3,000 quotas are given to 190 and 2,000 quotas are given to 491.
Among the state guarantee quotas in the Northern Territory, the number of quotas for 190 and 491 is the same, both 800, although the number of quotas is not very large, but it is already a "windfall" relative to expectations;
South Australia 190 received 3,000 quotas, an increase of 173%, which is the same as the 190 quotas received by the three major states above quotas, and the 491 quota is relatively less, only 800 quotas have been received;
Tasmania 190 has 2,100 quotas, an increase of 250%, the largest increase; Tasmania 491 received 760 quotas. In addition, the data released by Queensland and Canberra is in line with previous AFR data.
It is worth noting that WA is currently the only state that has announced the 190/491 nomination requirements for skilled migration for this financial year, and the first round of invitations is expected to be issued in the first week of August.
