■ Wang Xinjian
In the late autumn of the year, at the invitation of several close friends of Baqiao, I went to a vineyard in Bailuyuan to collect style.
One
Drive away from the mist-shrouded ancient capital of Chang'an, hovering in the upper plains and gradually seeing the wind clear. Climb to the top of the three tombs of the Western Han Dynasty and overlook the distance, suddenly feel that the sky is high and the earth is different, the blue sky is sparse, the mountains and rivers are long, and the Chanba Jing Wei is all in the bosom. Up and down the original slope, layer upon layer, the grass and trees are swaying, the frost leaves are red, the wild chrysanthemums are clustered yellow, and the place is faint and fragrant. The sky is as blue as washing, geese fly by in rows, and the sound of hissing is in the ears. In autumn, coming here to watch the autumn colors and autumn rhyme autumn scenery can indeed be pleasant, pleasant to the body and mind, forget worries, and make people feel refreshed. No wonder Bai Lotian came here to visit, and there would be a feeling of "looking for the east of the autumn city alone, and the white deer plain is at the head of the horse"; Wang Majie beat horses to watch the hunting and return to Si, which can give birth to the ancient singing of "looking back at the place where the eagle is shooting, and the clouds are flat for thousands of miles".
The vineyard is located in the hinterland of Bailuyuan, and the half-moon-shaped gatehouse is erected at the door, which is named "Bailuyuan Grape Theme Park". It's not far from my hometown, about seven or eight miles away. When the park was first built, I passed by with my family and saw it once. I remember that there is a beautiful castle-style Western-style building in the corner of the garden, and there is a large pond in front of it, in which the reeds are sparse and the lotus flowers are clear.
The vineyard covers an area of thousands of acres, with a park charm and a unique environmental design. Each grape growing area belongs to the same variety, and you will know how many varieties there are when you walk through the growing area. The height of each variety, the row spacing, the density of branches and leaves, the length and shape of the vines are almost all carved out of a mold, and the arrangement is extremely neat, like a well-trained parade soldier. These grapes come from all over the world and are among the finest varieties, such as Natsuri, Bijinji, Kyohio, Tota VIII, Morvador, Auguste, Rizamat, etc. Dozens of grapes have different postures, and their advantages are pleasing to the eye. Some of the vines are like the crops in the fields, and they are relatively low; Some of the vines are extremely tall and covered with steel frames, which look like galleries from the bottom up; Some of the vines are built in the shape of houses, and sitting underneath them is like entering a home. Visitors walk under the grape corridor, look up at the bunches of black, purple, red, green, yellow grapes, each crystal like a gem, Ambilight like amber, immediately salivate, gluttonous. A great man once said that labor creates art. When you arrive at the Grape Theme Park, you will know that growing grapes is full of art, and this art is also beautiful and beautiful.
Two
I heard that the vineyard owner is a strange man, who has loved grapes all his life, and has devoted all his body and mind to the cause of viticulture. Some people say that if a person can do one thing to the extreme in his life, he is an artist. Then he is a grape artist. Some of the grapes he planted were planted with only one acre of land, and the branches could cover hundreds of square meters of land; Some acres of land are planted with 500 trees, and only one bunch of grapes is allowed to hang on each tree, in order to maintain the unique excellent quality of the grapes. When he introduced these high-quality grape varieties at home and abroad, he overcame the problem of low survival rate of off-site planting and solved various problems of pest control. Since ancient times, there has been a lack of water in Bailu Plain, and it is difficult to plant grapes in a large area, just because the soil here is a vertical stubble, that is, the soil cracks are straight down, no matter how much water you have watered, the water will quickly seep into the ground, disappear without a trace, and the water diversion and irrigation often outweigh the losses. Through trial and error, the owner finally adopted the water-saving fine irrigation technique, pulling a plastic water pipe along a row of grapes, leaving a dripping eye at each grape root, and when irrigation is needed, the thin water line will continue to water the grape roots, which can not only save water but also play an irrigation role.
Since I am a native of Bailuyuan, I naturally have a deep memory of the difficulties in crop cultivation in Bailuyuan. Listening to the wisdom and hard work of the owner in cultivating grapes, I immediately concluded that this was a real master of fruit tree cultivation and a veritable agricultural expert, and I had a desire to see him.
The meeting with the vineyard owner Guo Tangjun was at the round table where he was entertaining.
A group of seven or eight people sat around the round table, and it was his wife who came out to cook and entertain, as if there were one or two sisters as helpers. During the meal, a black, short, fat and bearded man from Guanzhong brought out a plate of steaming dumplings and put them on the table, smiling honestly and telling everyone to eat and drink well.
The person next to me whispered to me that this was Lao Guo, the owner of the vineyard, and I was so surprised that I almost dropped my glasses on the ground. I am usually used to seeing the nouveau riche who are surrounded by thousands of dollars and commanding, and I have not been in contact with the big bosses in suits and leather shoes, and I never dreamed that a manor owner with thousands of acres of vineyards would be a master chef who cooks for himself. I remember that on the way to visit just now, I once met him driving a sightseeing car, picking up and dropping off guests, and I muttered in my heart at that time, saying that what happened to this owner, and he didn't hire a handsome guy and beautiful girl to drive a sightseeing car, where did he find such an ugly man to greet him. This time I was dumbfounded, people are real people who don't show their faces, and their appearances are extraordinary.
I immediately felt close to him, and I almost called him a brother.
After understanding, I learned that he was a native of Guoqu Village, Baqiao Township, and like me, he met the Cultural Revolution before graduating from primary school, so he went home to herd sheep and grow crops. I was a little luckier than him, and then I got into a hat high school in a daze, and I didn't get stumped by math during the college entrance examination, and I got into college by luck. He brushed shoulders with higher education, first feeding pigs in the village, then working as a technician in an experimental station, and then studying at the district-run Wuqi University for a year and a half. Probably because he was famous for his crops, he actually worked as a farmer, and received a salary and sat in the township science and technology office. He has loved planting fruit trees since he was a child, especially like to plant grapes, and once planted grapes in his own land in Guoqu Village, becoming a 10,000-yuan household, driving the people to plant grapes. After a few years, I went to Bailuyuan to make this grape park. He said that he wanted to grow grapes by himself and make a way for the people to get rich. He is ready to feed the tiger in the flesh, and if he gets the grape thing done, he will teach the village party to become rich; If you mess up, you'll have to bear all the losses.
As I listened, I was moved in my heart.
Three
Like him, I used to be a hot-blooded young man. After graduating from high school, he returned to the countryside, and he also wanted to change the backward appearance of the rural areas through his own efforts. I also went to the experimental station in the village and worked as an agricultural technician. I once dug a well to a depth of 50 or 60 meters because of the lack of water in the village, and when I stood below and looked at the mouth of the well, it was only the size of a teacup, and a piece of soil collapsed and I had to die. The moment I hit the water, I squatted down and slowly watched the mud spread over the surface of my feet, gradually diluted by the clear stream, and tears welled up for a while. I also participated in the battle of the Bailu Plains in Hongqing Mountain, and under the scorching sun on dog days, my back was tanned and peeling, and my palms were cracked, and I continued to sweat like rain with a handkerchief. However, in the end, I was not able to change the appearance of the countryside, and until I left the countryside for a while, the people still did not have enough to eat, and they still had no money to spend. I entered the university with regrets, and then I wanted to explore the way out of rural peasant agriculture through literary creation. After graduating from university, I came to Northwest A&F University to see how agricultural scientists wanted to solve these problems, and later wrote a novel "Shengmin" on this theme, believing that agricultural science and technology is the best way to achieve prosperity in agriculture.
I am a thinker on the issue of rural agriculture and farmers, and Guo Tangjun is a practitioner on the issue of rural agriculture and farmers.
Asked, why are the castle-like buildings in the corner of the vineyards and the beautiful lotus ponds missing? Answer: Not long ago, the illegal building was demolished.
I was stunned for a moment.
Probably out of long-term thinking about the way out for farmers, I always pay special attention to the agricultural production methods in Europe and United States every time I go there. When I visited the Napa vineyard on the west coast of United States, I visited many wineries. All of those wineries have old castles or landscape architecture - after all, the grapes are ripe and have to be sold, and if they are sold, they have to attract tourists, tourists have to eat, and some have nostalgia for the idyllic scenery and accommodation, and supporting building facilities are indispensable. Everyone knows that a single agricultural production model is risky, has a long cycle, and makes little money. Only when safflower is matched with green leaves, and the grape industry, tourism, and service industry are integrated, can the industry flourish.
I also know that 1.8 billion acres of farmland is an iron law that cannot be crossed; I have also seen many scheming businessmen hoarding land under the guise of pastoral projects and selling them at a price; Even more people build houses on arable land, first for their own residence, then for homestays, then for restaurants, and then for villas. This trend must be curbed, and if it is not curbed, future generations will be afraid that they will not have anything to eat. It's just that Guo Tangjun, who grows grapes, and his theme park are like a hurricane blowing, accidentally blowing off an egg in his bird's nest.
It's painful to think about.
The skin of the grapes is very bright, giving people a beautiful enjoyment; The flesh of the grapes is sweet and has a long aftertaste in the mouth. But when it comes to the ups and downs in the hearts of grape growers, the honest old Guo feels that it is difficult to explain, and he can't find a clue for a while.
Anyone he has come into contact with has praised him as a good person, who has never prostituted or gambled, smoked or drunk all his life, and has almost no bad problems. It is said that he did not have much savings in his life, and so far he only has one house, which is a welfare house transferred by someone else in the gardener's community. He has endured countless runs and pains in his life, and these countless amounts of money add up enough to knock him down. But as soon as he saw the grapes, he came back to life. Seeing his industrious, simple, and hard-working figure of plowing the fields and acres to make grapes, people can't help but think of the irrigation garden in "Irrigation Gardens and Fairies in the Evening", of course, he does have a fairy to accompany him, and that fairy is his wife.
He encountered countless difficulties in managing and running the grape park, not to mention the birds in the sky to be bitten, the insects on the ground to be cured, and the germs that came from nowhere to be prevented; Nor does it say that grapes should be pruned, bagged, or weededed; Just dealing with the contradictions in all aspects, especially with the villagers who contracted the land, was enough to give him a headache.
The land in the Grape Theme Park is subleased to nearby villages, and each acre of land is compensated at a discount according to the grain production, and it is cleared once a year. In addition, he promised the villagers that he would bear the cooperative medical fees, and that every time the cooperative medical fees increased, he would follow suit. What makes him miserable is that the expenses are rising, the grape production cannot go up, the price of the grapes cannot go up, and if there is a hailstorm any year, he will not get any grains.
Coming out of the grape theme park, my friend said worriedly that this park was struggling! When I heard this, my heart sank. Sincerely wish Guo Tangjun and the grape theme park, since it is a flower watered with painstaking efforts, don't let it wither!
