Plesnik is a boutique family health hotel in a beautiful natural setting that is now in its eighteenth year. Its geographical location offers spectacular views of the Alps, including the Kamnik-Savinja peaks. The Logarska valley is considered one of the most beautiful in Europe and was a decisive factor in the renovation of the hotel.
▼ Hotel appearance
The design of outdoor waterscapes does not adopt the usual design techniques such as closely integrating with the environment and planting aquatic plants. In contrast, the water feature has a regular geometry and acts as an extension of the building, looking at nature. As part of the outdoor recreation, the circular lounge area in the pool with its central fire creates a cosy exterior atmosphere. Under this design, the building and landscape are seamlessly integrated. Visitors are surrounded by mountains and beautiful scenery and enjoy the comfort of the hotel.

The large pool inside the original hotel was demolished. In order to meet the needs of the new section, a new pool and a relaxation space have been injected. The pool is designed in the shape of a whirlpool and faces the outdoors to enjoy the view. On the other side, there is a sunken indoor relaxation area. Several chairs are set around a huge fire, where visitors can relax and warm up and interact with the landscape. The sun plywood extends further outwards into the outdoor pool, compensating for the loss of the indoor water feature and mirroring the surrounding mountain views.

The design of the Plesnik Wellness Hotel is entirely locally sourced. The awkward and strange design of the original building forced the interior space of the rebuilt building to be mainly expressed in the form of undulating curved walls. The loose spatial design transforms the irregular layout into a fluid spatial direction that echoes the valley landscape. The cobbled interior walls are further transformed into sun plywood and spread to the sauna area, the hotel center and the hotel entrance. The façade partition wall replaces the arched doors and windows with transparent glass to increase the visual communication between the spaces. Enlarged façade fenestration further connects the interior and exterior landscape.

Although the hotel is larger than before, it visually appears to be lost in the landscape. A variety of new and additional building components are fully integrated with the environment. In contrast, they are more like a part of their surroundings than a man-made architectural landscape.
