COSMO June Special Planning,
Assist the successful application of Beijing's central axis for World Heritage Status.
On the day when the Chinese Olympians won the first gold medal, we also got another good news:
Congratulations on the successful inscription of "Beijing's Central Axis - A Masterpiece of China's Ideal Capital City Order" on the World Heritage List!
Mr. Liang Sicheng, a master architect, once had a classic summary of Beijing's traditional central axis: "Beijing's unique magnificent order is produced by the establishment of this central axis." ”
The central axis of Beijing city is 7.8 kilometers long, it is the world's most complete preserved capital planning axis, it is from the south end of Yongding Gate to the north of the bell and drum tower, the initial in the Yuan, formed in the Ming Dynasty, refined in the Qing Dynasty, the central axis is prominent, the two wings are symmetrical, and it is still developing and perfecting. The central axis integrates the ancient royal palace and sacrificial buildings, the national celebration space and the people's life, and the red walls and blue tiles of the former palace and the folk blue brick and gray roof, combined with modern buildings such as the Water Cube and the Olympic Park, present the symmetrical architectural aesthetic philosophy of urban planning in the Chinese capital.
Since the 2024 Spring Festival, "Fashion COSMO" has been planning and helping to select the theme of "Beijing Central Axis", which lasted for three months, and finally launched a full series of works in June. During this period, the selection of the topic was fully supported by the Palace Museum, the National Stadium · Bird's Nest, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics, and the Beijing Central Axis World Heritage Protection Office.
The special production of the Beijing Central Axis not only combines the location of the central bearing and the intangible cultural heritage skills of Beijing, but also integrates the help of celebrity guests, comprehensively showing the solemn and rich cultural heritage on the central axis.
In order to produce this special issue of the Beijing Central Axis, the filming and interview team visited almost all the historical and cultural buildings on the Beijing Central Axis. From late spring to early summer, I have heard the drumming of the drum tower and smelled the fragrance of nursery flowers in the Xiannongtan. Whether they are Beijingers or not, they have deepened their sense of pride and belonging to the city during the shooting.
Finally, in this July, everyone ushered in the good news of the successful application for the World Heritage Site!
Forbidden City/Bird's Nest · Inheritance and Future
Guo Jingjing, the cover character of the June issue, when she learned that our theme was to help the Beijing Central Axis apply for the World Heritage Site, she readily agreed to fly to Beijing for filming, and also offered to go to several more locations on the Central Axis to better complete the shooting of this group.
The Forbidden City is the centerpiece of the Central Axis and one of the oldest landmarks in Beijing, representing the ancient history of Beijing's Central Axis. The Bird's Nest built for the 2008 Olympic Games is an extension of Beijing's central axis to the north, which represents Beijing's modernization and development, and is also the place where countless athletes like Guo Jingjing began their dreams and passions burned.
The solemnity of the Forbidden City, the leisure of the Drum Tower, and the warmth of the Bird's Nest...... Guo Jingjing, who has lived in Beijing for more than ten years, relived her beautiful memories with Beijing with us. SHE TOLD COSMO THAT NO MATTER WHERE SHE LIVES, WHEN IT COMES TO BEIJING, IT IS STILL THE DIRECTION OF HOME.
