News Corp Australia reported on July 30 that a historic American prairie-style home in Toorak, Melbourne, was put up for sale for the first time in 70 years and is expected to be officially listed this week, with a guide price of between $17.5 million and $18.5 million.
While the listing agent did not disclose the identity of the seller, industry insiders said the property was owned by Grace Davey-Milne, the widow of the late Earl Davey-Milne, a collector of classic cars and race car driver.
Earl is known for owning several classic cars, including a Monza Alfa Romeo and a Bugatti Type 37 Chevy, which he raced in 1963.
This five-bedroom home at 40 Lansell Rd, called Ballara, was originally built in 1914 and designed by architect Chris Cowper.

Located on the heights of Lansell Rd, Ballara occupies an area of 2,217 square meters and features a swimming pool, a garage for 10 cars and a spacious garden.
The reception hall is decorated with wooden panels and there is even a "smoking room" that is reminiscent of the history of the residence. In addition, there are several living areas, such as a large billiards room and a formal living room.
The interior of the house also features bay windows, wooden alcoves and fireplaces throughout the house in a consistent style.

Oliver Booth, a partner at Kay & Burton Stonnington, said the property was one of Toorak's most iconic residences.
Booth added that many people have been hoping to get a glimpse of the interior of this home as it has been a very sturdy family home.
"The next buyer can restore it to its former glory." Another luxury property for sale in the same precinct is Halstead, a five-bedroom home at 12 Lansell Rd, which is expected to sell between $27 million and $29.7 million, and was listed in February this year.
