According to Cambodian media sources, the Ministry of Information of Cambodia prohibits advertisements for alcohol products within 200 meters of educational institutions, medical institutions, religious institutions, historical and cultural attractions, and international airports.
The Working Group on the Regulation of Advertising and Promotion of Alcoholic Products, headed by the Minister of Information, Niepatra, promulgated the Procedures and Rules for the Definition and Management of Advertising of Alcoholic Products, with the aim of safeguarding social order, public welfare, reducing negative impacts on the economy, culture, ethnicity and national traditions, and promoting fair competition. Advertising of alcohol products requires approval from the Working Group.
The above announcement is applicable to the advertising of alcoholic products with an ethanol content of more than 3%.
It also states that advertisements for alcohol products are prohibited within 200 meters of educational institutions, medical institutions, religious institutions, historical and cultural sites, as well as international airports.
In addition, ads must not use exaggerated depictions to promote alcohol, especially if they enhance sexual performance or induce a relationship.
The announcement pointed out that it is not allowed to advertise the audience drinking alcohol on the stage of various programs. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., television and radio stations are not allowed to promote alcohol.
