2024 款阿尔法罗密欧 Stelvio Quadrifoglio 评测:一场精彩的混乱

Perfection has been chasing this Alfa, but it's faster.

2024 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio review: ignore the quality of the build

The 2024 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio is a vehicle with serious flaws. What's more, the critically flawed vehicle will no longer be produced after this year. So...... Gone, right? Wrong.

foundation

Hot Spot: Personally, I've never been a big fan of Alfa Romeo looks. The triangular grille looks silly, and this candy-red Stelvio has a towering stance and curved surface that reminds me of the apple cart driven by Lowly Worm. Still, others seem to love it, often drawing eyes, stares, and at least one excited Alfa Romeo fan circling around it in the parking lot, waiting to talk to me about it. New for 2024 are "Trilobe" LED matrix headlights and a 12.3-inch digital instrument screen with a choice of retro themes.

Yes, just like the new Ford Mustang and its Fox Body clock, the Stelvio's dashboard looks just like the dashboard of the old Alfa Romeo. As for the rest of the interior, in the photos it is a beautifully designed space, but in real life, the materials look and feel cheaper than they should. The key touchpoints are pleasantly exotic – peeking at the Alcantara on the steering wheel and the large metal paddle shifters – but the knobs, switches and grooming on the dashboard feel like they've been picked out of a CDJR parts box.

Funny alpha thing

Even if it's not a Stellantis product, you'll get the feeling that Stelvio isn't going to get any better anyway, as here's a list of some of the interesting alpha things I found on this car:

  • There's a slot next to the gear lever to put the keychain, but I can simply ...... Effortlessly pull out the small rubber stuff inside with your hands. If you have the chance to sit in one of these cars at a dealership or car show, this is an easy souvenir to obtain.
  • The shape of the visor is such that there are considerable gaps, through which the sunlight often shines perfectly on your eyes, completely defeating the purpose of using the visor.
  • The 8.8-inch touchscreen doesn't align perfectly with the surrounding bezels. The edge is really small, but once you see it, you can't ignore it.

On the second day of the week-long test, the system lit up to remind me to maintain the handbrake. Probably relatedly, when I put the car into driving gear, the parking brake didn't automatically disengage like other cars with an electronic parking brake. When I turn it off at night or in a dark garage, it just like most cars, let the lights stay on for a while. But here, the car likes to give a warning message on the dashboard, and the protest lights are indeed still on. As if it weren't its job to finally turn them off. The sound of the turn signal is eerie and irritating. One passenger even described them as "creepy." The column paddle shifters are pointless and I won't take a rebuttal at the moment. (However, if your rebuttal boils down to "Ferrari installed them on the post paddle shifters!") ", I would like to kindly point out: except for the game that Charles · Leclerc played, right? )

On the steering wheel, Stelvio uses buttons to control the volume and a scroll wheel to switch between tracks/channels, when in reality it should be the other way around. Interestingly, this seems to be a development of the 2024 Alfa, as the 2023 steering wheel does turn the buttons upside down, according to some rough Google image searches. Although the car starts at $90,000, Apple CarPlay is wired. Admittedly, Alfa isn't the only manufacturer doing this, but when you put your phone on a wireless charger, an annoying pop-up window will appear on the touchscreen telling you that your phone is charging. Yes, Alfa, I know it's charging, I just put it on the charger. Although the car starts at $90,000, it doesn't have a heads-up display.

The last time I found out that a car had so many problems and made such a list, I was a bit rude to compare it to a nasty colleague and even got called by the borrower because of it. For the Alpha publicist reading this, you can tell your eyelids to stop twitching and put down the phone, because unlike the hopelessly previous generation of Subaru Foresters, once you point the Stelvio Quadrifoglio to an empty country road, all its flaws can be forgiven. If the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is the most efficient performance SUV I've ever driven, then it's probably the most enjoyable.

Under the hood is a Ferrari-derived 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that makes 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. It accelerates from zero to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 176 mph. The steering is the highlight, though. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio feels like a veritable sports car on stilts, and there's no doubt that it steers better than most sports cars. It's fast, lightweight, very precise, and it's just a lot of fun.

In fact, the whole car feels lighter than its size — 4,313 pounds, which is 3 pounds lighter than the rival BMW X3 M — and the way it rides has a lot of personality. It's not blunt, though. It's smooth in cornering, the suspension is calm, and it's serious enough not to come across as overdoing it or like it's just a car you just want to drive out on the weekend.

It's a powerful engine, but even though it's Ferrari-based, the fart sound of the V6 engine is a V6 after all. This may be another unpopular point, but in my opinion, the Quadrifoglio engine doesn't sound that good; The aforementioned BMW S58 inline-six engine sounds better. The volume of the exhaust pipes is perfectly calibrated, though. It's not too loud, it's not too quiet, and it does make some pretty hilarious ripping noises when upshifting, so that's it.

Speaking of which, the eight-speed automatic transmission – which uses the same ZF gearbox on all models, from Aston Martin to Jeep Gladiator – is as good as ever. Paddle manual shifts are fast, and although these paddles are not reasonably mounted on the steering column, they are large, metal, and sturdy. The brakes are strong and work as well as they should, but the pedals don't feel that great. They're just brakes.

Special praise goes to the person responsible for the Stelvio Quad driving mode, though. It has dynamic, natural, and advanced efficiency (i.e., sporty, normal, and eco-friendly) as well as an untethered race mode. Silly names aside, they do have a huge impact on the way this car is driven. Nature and Race feel like completely different cars – Race mode can hold longer gears, the sound is louder, and the whole car is ready for battle.

Inside the drive mode dial there is a button dedicated to adjusting the shock absorbers, which allows you to soften the suspension very easily and quickly while maintaining everything else with a sporty feel. Because that's pretty much what you want on a country road, isn't it? It's the little details like this that let you see that the car was designed, built, and built by someone who knows and loves driving. If you're a regular visitor to this site, this is an SUV built for you and me.

That being said, the shock is relatively stiff even in the softest mode. It's not as bad as a track car, but if you're driving this car on rough roads most of the time, you might want to buy a softer shock. That's the price to pay for top-notch cornering handling. As another criticism of drivability, Normal mode almost always puts the car in too high gear, almost to the point of dragging. It's a capital P-performance SUV, and the front seats aren't exactly soft or luxurious, but they're comfortable enough that you won't experience noticeable pain after a few hours of driving.

verdict

It's a really cool car, though. This coolness can sometimes manifest itself through misaligned screens, meaningless steering wheels, and keychains that can't even hold their own rubber pads. But it also manifests itself through more satisfying steering, a chassis that feels lighter, and a more agile ride than almost all other SUVs.

No, Alfa Romeo doesn't have the rock-solid quality of a Porsche or BMW, but it's not that serious either. The retro dashboard, the engine that originated from Ferrari but actually didn't sound that good, the useless visor, all of these make up what I think people call "personality".

In many ways, I can see why this car is gone. It was flawed, arguably expensive, and the fierce competition from Germany did not make its life any easier. The 2024 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio is shabby in many ways and objectively terrible, but on a lonely, winding road with only time and fuel on your hands, you can't help but be glad it once existed. If that's not the real Alfa Romeo, I don't know what the real Alfa Romeo is.
