Regarding the reasons for the incident mentioned in the previous article, "Ma Qi was careless in the officialdom of the spring breeze and fell after encountering a big setback", and its detailed history, it is actually because Ma Qi accidentally and easily got involved in the huge political whirlpool of Emperor Kangxi's 'abolition, recommendation, and establishment of reserves', and the whole process is like this——————
As early as the fourteenth year of Kangxi (1675), the twenty-two-year-old Kangxi Emperor had already canonized the two-year-old eldest son (the second son of the emperor) Yinren as the crown prince of the country (stabilizing the hearts of the people in the world who were shaken by the outbreak of the rebellion of the three feudatories); After that, Emperor Kangxi put a lot of effort into the growth and intellectual education of the crown prince, and even personally raised and taught the crown prince, in order to expect him to become a talent and become the heir of the country.
After Yinren became an adult, he personally conquered Galdan for the first time in Emperor Kangxi. When he led the army to leave Beijing, he was ordered to supervise the country, and his performance during the period was acceptable (but there were also negligent and inappropriate behaviors - when visiting Emperor Kangxi, who was close to Mobei, Yinren did not show too much concern for the emperor's father, and his filial piety was not good, so he was sent back to Beijing in advance by the unhappy Kangxi Emperor); But when he became an adult, Yinren gradually had a conflict with Emperor Kangxi, and the previously close father-son relationship was somewhat estranged because of the exclusivity of imperial power.
In addition, Yinren's maternal grandfather, Suo Etu, a powerful minister in the early Kangxi Dynasty, in order to seize greater power and status, deliberately continued to make trouble between the father and son, instigating and instigating Yinren to alienate Emperor Kangxi; Therefore, the relationship between Yinren and Emperor Kangxi, who gradually became an adult, became more and more awkward, estranged, and weak.
In March of the 37th year of Kangxi (1698), Emperor Kangxi conferred the title of adult prince viscount for the first time, among which the eldest son of the emperor (the eldest son) Yinzhi was named the king of Doluo Zhijun, the third son of the emperor Yinzhi was named the king of Doluo Cheng County, and the fourth son of the emperor Yinzhen, the fifth son of the emperor Yinqi, the seventh son of the emperor Yinyou, and the eighth son of the emperor Yinyu were all awarded the title of Dorobelle. From this time on, all the adult princes enjoyed the power to divide the five banners and control the people under them, and began to build their own private spheres of influence.
After that, the adult princes who received the title were assigned by Emperor Kangxi to participate in the management of court affairs on a large scale, which relatively weakened the interests and sphere of influence of the crown princes, who had already had some power to govern the country (supervising the country).
At the same time, after the adult princes had power in their hands and their own power, the contradictions between them and the crown princes who were alone and enjoyed a transcendent position of power were even more exacerbated. In order to protect their own (the power group's) interests, the adult princes and their henchmen will jointly target the tiger in the way of power - the crown prince and the 'princelings' behind him.
So, from this time on, the contradictions between Emperor Kangxi and the crown prince, and between the adult princes and the crown prince, became more and more complicated, and the situation became increasingly aggravated and irreversible.
In order to calm down the internal contradictions and eliminate the unstable factors around the crown prince, in May of the 42nd year of the Kangxi reign (1703), the Kangxi Emperor could not bear it anymore, and detained Suo Etu, a member of the highest-ranking and most influential head of the 'princeling', for the crime of "discussing state affairs and forming a party and acting recklessly", and then secretly executed him, and called him 'the first sinner of this dynasty'.
However, Emperor Kangxi's move encouraged or instigated other adult princes to attack and dump the crown prince's party (the emperor personally attacked the princeling); In the days that followed, the rivalries and partisanship between the princelings and the other princes intensified, and eventually became uncontrollable; And the crown prince himself's resentment and dissatisfaction with Emperor Kangxi are also getting worse day by day.
In May of the 47th year of Kangxi (1708), the Kangxi Emperor toured the Outer Mongolia provinces, accompanied by the crown prince Yinfeng and some other princes; During Emperor Kangxi's tour of Saibei, in order to attack the status of the crown prince, the eldest son of the emperor and the king of Zhijun, Yinyu, led some adult princes to report to Emperor Kangxi that the crown prince's 'violent lawlessness, abuse of kings, withholding tribute, indulging the husband of the nurse, instructing the henchmen to extort people' and many other "unkind" performances.
These reports made Emperor Kangxi even more dissatisfied with the crown prince (but later found out that most of these accusations of Yinhe were untrue), he was not only angry and dissatisfied with the crown prince's various 'atrocities', but also thought that the crown prince's behavior was: "Acting offside, wanting to divide my authority, in order to act arbitrarily!" ”
It was also halfway through Emperor Kangxi's tour of Saibei, in August of that year, the eighteenth son of the emperor Yinxu (seven years old at the time), who was on patrol, unfortunately suffered from a sudden illness and was in danger; Emperor Kangxi was very anxious about this, and mentioned this matter many times in his conversation with the crown prince, hoping that the crown prince could share his worries and pray for his younger brother; But to Emperor Kangxi's disappointment, the crown prince (because of the age difference with Yinxu is too far away and the feelings for each other are weak) have always been cold and indifferent to this.
On the one hand, Emperor Kangxi felt sorry for Yinxuan, who was young and seriously ill, and on the other hand, he recalled that more than ten years ago (the twenty-ninth year of Kangxi, 1690), on the eve of the 'Battle of Ulan Butong' when he personally conquered Galdan, he was seriously ill on the way out, and he ordered the crown prince and the third son (Yinzhi) to come to meet and greet him.
But when the crown prince saw his father's ill appearance after arriving at the palace, he was not worried at all, and he looked indifferent, which disappointed Emperor Kangxi; But in order to maintain the 'filial piety' relationship between father and son, Emperor Kangxi couldn't bear it, and just sent the crown prince back to Beijing early.
More than ten years later, under almost the same situation (the protagonist was changed from Emperor Kangxi to the younger brother of the crown prince), the crown prince's attitude remained the same, still distant and indifferent; At this time, Emperor Kangxi, who was already old, sadly thought that this son was cold by nature and had no loyalty to his father, so under the anger he couldn't suppress (and was distressed by the seriously ill younger son), he angrily blamed the crown prince, reprimanding him for being the eldest son and the prince of the country, but he didn't have the appearance of a minister, a son, or a brother, and he was simply heartless!
Originally, Emperor Kangxi impulsively scolded the crown prince under the anger and emotional instability, if the crown prince was smarter (or a little acquaintance), bowed his head to the imperial father and admitted his mistakes, sincerely apologized, and then took the appearance of the eldest brother to take good care of his seriously ill younger brother Yinxuan, and took practical actions to eliminate the anger and impatience in Emperor Kangxi's heart, this matter would have been covered up.
But the crown prince was impulsive and rude, not only did he not accept the criticism from the imperial father, but also 'retorted' when Emperor Kangxi was angry, and brutally collided with the imperial father, and finally brushed his sleeves away, which made Emperor Kangxi angry half to death.
And on the way back to Beijing of Emperor Kangxi (because Yinlu was ill, Emperor Kangxi suspended this trip to Saibei and returned to Beijing ahead of schedule), and according to the emperor's eldest son Wang Yinlu and others who were responsible for the duties of the palace guard, Yinren took advantage of the darkness every night to cover and secretly approached Putrajaya (tent) where the emperor's father lived, and kept peeping in after tearing the gaps in the curtains, not knowing what his intention was.
Yinyu's 'warning move' made Emperor Kangxi suddenly awake, and he immediately suspected that the crown prince was resentful under his own reprimand, and he might be "plotting rebellion and killing the king".
Stimulated by this uneasiness, the Kangxi Emperor was on guard day and night, restless, anxious, and at the same time extremely angry at the crown prince's peeping into his own life, and finally resolved to immediately depose the crown prince as prince in order to eliminate the (imminent) threat.
On the fourth day of the ninth month of the forty-seventh year of Kangxi (1708), Emperor Kangxi, who had made all the preparations in advance, summoned the ministers and civil and military officials of the entourage in the palace of Saiwai Xing, and then ordered the crown prince Yinren to kneel in front of him and publicly count his crimes:
"Yinren has been the prince for more than 30 years, and he has been lawless, not listening to teachings, not following my precepts, being unable to control his eyes, wantonly abusing the public, and being violent and fornicated; I have tolerated Yi with the love of father and son for more than 20 years, not only did I not repent, but it became more and more intense, and it was difficult for Yinren to inherit the foundation of the ancestors of heaven and earth! "
Because he was extremely disappointed in the crown prince, Emperor Kangxi was both angry and sad, so much so that he cried and reprimanded, and finally fell to the ground directly due to lack of physical strength, but fortunately he was picked up by the ministers around him and sent back to the dormitory to recuperate.
Subsequently, Emperor Kangxi, who had recovered his health, issued an edict on the same day, first punishing the officials of the 'princeling' who instigated and instigated the crown prince's actions, and then detained the crown prince, and asked the emperor's eldest son, Wang Yinzhen of Zhijun, and the fourth son of the emperor, Beile Yinzhen, to jointly monitor Yinren's daily life and actions to prevent him from 'changing'.
On the same day, the eighteenth son of the emperor, Yinxu, who caused this 'father-son anti-eye turmoil', but was indeed innocent and pitiful, died of illness. The youngest son died young, and the eldest son was unfilial, this terrible family affair hit the old Emperor Kangxi deeply and cried sadly.
On the seventh day of the ninth month, Emperor Kangxi, who had not yet returned to Beijing, issued an edict ordering the eighth son of the emperor who remained in Beijing, Beile Yinxi, to act as the chief manager of the Internal Affairs Office. Under the special circumstances of the political situation being dark and the Manchu officials were shaken by it, letting Yinxi take the very important position of the head of the Internal Affairs Office reflected Emperor Kangxi's extraordinary trust and reuse of hard at this time.
On September 16, Emperor Kangxi successfully returned to Beijing; Two days later, that is, on September 18, Emperor Kangxi, who was in a sad and sad mood, sent ministers to sue heaven and earth, Zongmiao, and Sheji instead of himself, telling the ancestors of heaven and earth about the deposition of the crown prince, and imprisoning the abolished prince Yinren in the Xian'an Palace.
After the crown prince was deposed and overthrown, the eldest son of the emperor, Wang Yinhe, who had been coveting the position of the prince for a long time, felt that the opportunity to 'compete for the prince' had come, so he was ready to move, and regarded himself as the first choice of the new prince, without concealing his 'desire to seize the prince';
"Before I ordered the king of Zhijun Yinhe to protect me, and I had no intention of establishing Yinhe as the crown prince; Yinyu is impatient and stubborn, how can he be made the crown prince? ”
Emperor Kangxi clearly told Yinhe that he did not have this opportunity (to become the new prince).
In order to please the emperor's father, he recommended to Emperor Kangxi that the eighth son of the emperor who had been awarded an important position before, Beile Yinyu, as the 'new prince candidate', and further explained that Zhang Mingde, the 'phase teacher' of the Beijing Division, had met Yinxi, predicting that the eighth son of the emperor would have great wealth in the future (this has a deeper meaning, and will be explained in detail later).
At the same time, Yinren, who was eager to show his loyalty, disregarded his brotherhood, and actually made an additional suggestion to Emperor Kangxi: He was willing to kill the fatherless and monarchless 'rebel son' Yinren for Emperor Kangxi, so as to eliminate the hidden dangers within the royal family - 'If you want to punish Yinren today, it doesn't have to come from the hands of the imperial father.'" ’
(As for why Yinhe recommended Yinxi to succeed the prince, first, Yinhe was raised by Yinyu's mother, Concubine Hui, when he was a child, and he had a good relationship with Concubine Hui's son Yinhe and his brothers; Second, after seeing Emperor Kangxi depose the crown prince, Yinhe immediately granted Yinxi the important position of head of the Internal Affairs Office, so he took it for granted that Emperor Kangxi intended to re-establish Yinxi as the new prince; Therefore, after Yinhe failed to seize the prince, in order to protect his interests from big losses, he took the initiative to recommend Yinxi to Emperor Kangxi as the new prince candidate to curry favor with Emperor Kangxi and Yinxi. )
After Yinxi became an adult, he was kind and easy-going, considerate and meticulous, quiet and gentle, unregulated, and not following his name, so he had a good fate in the government and the opposition. Among the brothers, Yinyu and the ninth son of the emperor Yinyu, the tenth son of the emperor, and the fourteenth son of the emperor Yinyu have a more extraordinary and deep relationship, and they are of one heart and one mind with each other.
In the interaction with the princes and ministers, Yinxi does not put on a show, does not stick to his identity, treats everyone equally, treats people kindly and gently, and is close to the nobles of the same clan and officials of foreign courts, so he has a good reputation inside and outside the court, and everyone praises him.
In addition, in the process of being ordered to run errands, all kinds of errands and government affairs assigned to him by Emperor Kangxi were completed by Yinxi with dedication and conscientiousness, which not only made Emperor Kangxi praise slightly, but also gave his talents the opportunity to display.
Therefore, at that time, Yinxi was praised by the elders of the clan (Emperor Kangxi's second brother Prince Yu Fuquan) and the ministers of the kings as 'not boastful, intelligent and capable, virtuous and talented'.
As a result, Yinren, who has an excellent reputation and reputation in the government and the opposition, and has super popularity and excellent ability to do things, became the 'first candidate for succession to the prince' in the minds of the princes and ministers including Yinren after Emperor Kangxi deposed Yinren's crown prince; this is the main reason why Yinhe, who lost the hope of competing for the prince, elected the eighth brother Yinren as the new prince.
The follow-up story will be continued in the next article (about Mazie's performance and encounter in this matter will also be told in the next article.) )
