IT Home reported on August 5 that on the evening of August 2, Beijing time, Figure AI, which is supported by OpenAI and other companies, released a trailer for its new generation of humanoid robot Figure 02, and announced that it will be officially released on August 6 (tomorrow).
The trailer focuses on the robot's hardware. It shows the details of the joints and limbs of Figure 02, with very flexible finger movements, range of motion up to 195°, and torque ratings up to 150N·m. Figure AI founder Brett Adcock even declared that Figure 02 will be the most advanced humanoid robot on the planet.
The company had demonstrated Figure 01's skills and parameters in March of this year. The Figure 01 is 167.64 centimeters (5 feet 6 inches) tall, weighs 59.8 kilograms (132 pounds), can carry up to 20 kilograms (44 pounds), and can move at a speed of 1.2 meters per second (about 2.7 miles per hour), as previously reported by IT House.
The biggest highlight of Figure 01 is that it can use OpenAI's large language model to have a normal and complete conversation with a human. Because OpenAI models also support multimodal inputs, they provide advanced visual and linguistic intelligence for Figure 01. Figure neural networks provide fast, low-level, dexterous robot movements.
The video shows that Figure 01 can understand the content in the scene and react to the user's voice (speech-to-speech inference). Comparing the two videos, Figure 02 is expected to focus on hardware or athletic capabilities.
