Fluchloraminopyr is a new non-selective herbicide of pyridoxycarboxylic acid independently developed by KingAgroot in 2019, and the current commercial product of pesticides is its ester, namely fluchloramioxate. From the perspective of its skeleton structure, it can be considered that fluchlorophoracate is obtained by esterification with tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol after the introduction of methyl group into the β-carbonyl position of chlorofluoropyroxalate to obtain fluchlorochlorooxalic acid. It is speculated that its mechanism of action is similar to that of chlorofluoropyroxyacetic acid (isooctyl ester), which is a synthetic hormone herbicide. In April 2022, fluchloroamide received its world premiere in Cambodia. In June 2024, the registration of 98% of the original ingredient of fluchloroamimidate (only for export to Cambodia) was completed in China.

02 Mechanism of action

To date, the target of fluchloroxamine has not been clearly reported. It is speculated that it has a similar mechanism of action to ethyloctyl fluorochloropyroxyacetate, and is absorbed by plants soon after application, which can effectively interfere with the synthesis of nucleic acids and proteins in plants, make cells over-divide and elongate, and tissues become deformed due to overgrowth, thereby hindering the transport of substances in plants and leading to plant death.

Fluchloroamide has been reported to have good adaptability to temperature and can maintain high activity against weeds even when used in low temperatures. However, according to the author's understanding of the structural herbicide, it is speculated that the weeding speed and activity of fluchloramifol are positively correlated with temperature, that is, the higher the temperature, the faster the weeding speed and the better the effect.

03 Applications

Application: At present, CFAGN is a non-selective herbicide for biocide, which can be used for weeding on non-cultivated land such as barren hills, slopes, roadsides, ditches, etc., and can also be used for weeding between rows in some orchards. However, there is still commercial value to be developed and explored in some grasses and pastures, as well as in the field of cereal crops.

Herbicidal spectrum: It is mainly used for the prevention and control of annual grasses such as barnyard grass, horsetail, goldenrod, dogtail grass, and annual and perennial broad-leaved weeds such as hemp, cabbage, trifolium, small feipeng, duck plantar grass, spiny cabbage, endive, endive, horsetail, field spinning flower, sorrel leaf knotweed, humulus, Artemisia annua, camellia, Maijiagong, pig disaster, chickweed, etc., and also has a control effect on sedge weeds.

05 Prospects

As a new generation of synthetic hormone herbicide independently developed by KingAgroot, fluchloramine is also the first synthetic hormone herbicide with pyridine structure independently developed in China, and most of the previous patents related to this type of herbicide were owned by Dow. According to the existing reports, fluchloroamide has the advantages of wide herbicidal spectrum, high activity, long grass control period and good low temperature resistance.

According to the author's understanding, this kind of herbicide was mainly used to control dicot weeds and vine weeds in the past, and was basically ineffective or had poor control effect on grassy weeds. Although chlorofluoropyridine has also been reported to have some control effects on grasses such as barnyard grass and goldenrod, in actual applications, it cannot meet the needs of gramineous weed control in agricultural production. According to public reports, fluchloroamimidate also has excellent control effect on most gramineous weeds such as Ox tendon grass, Ma Tang, barnyard grass, Qianjinzi, Dogtail weeds, Rice Lee's grass, Kanmai Niang, Dogtooth root, etc. The specific prevention effect remains to be verified.
