Lavender flowers are mainly purple, but there are also reddish-purple and white flowers. The lavender flower itself is small, so it is advisable to use a lot of flowers in the frame to create a sense of volume during the shoot, and not just take a close-up photo of a single flower, but to see a piece of plant as a protagonist, or add some blur before and after the protagonist to create a dreamy atmosphere.
1. Dreamy and refreshing

The lavender flower is rounded and cropped out of the left part of the frame, which creates a slightly diagonal composition that gives it some movement. Because I wanted to create a refreshing and bright atmosphere, I chose backlighting and set the exposure to a high profile of +1.7EV, which also has a soft effect that gives a fluffy feel. In addition, the purple color of the lavender in the background is also included by shooting at the same height angle as the main flower, and the lavender fields are all purple, so the color is not very bright, but it looks more beautiful with the color of the flowers, so the brown soil and green stems are avoided, and the purple blur is added.
2. Enjoy the deep bokeh effect

When you are traveling, you may see lavender plants arranged vertically, and if you shoot from the side, there will be a gap between the individual plants, and in the shooting, we tend to focus on the flowers in the foreground, but first focus on the flowers in the back row, because there is a distance between the flowers in the foreground and the flowers in the background, so the flowers in the front and back are blurred well. In shots, the focus is on the second line from the front, but if you focus further back, the blurred area in front will increase. Let's change the focus position to front, middle, and back to see the difference in the blur position. By the way, you focus on a point, but all flowers at the same distance will be clear, so all flowers in the horizontal row will be focused.
3. Look up with a wide-angle lens

This photo was taken looking up at the flowers with a wide-angle lens, which not only allows you to capture a wider landscape, but also adds perspective and makes the lavender seem to extend to the sky. If it's a tall flower like a sunflower, it's easy to look up at the flower, but lavender is about 1 meter tall, so it's hard to put your body under the flower, and you can't even step inside the plant, so we get our hands as close to the ground as possible while looking at the movable live view screen. If your camera has a fixed LCD screen, you may need to check it without a viewfinder. Due to the wide viewing angle, you can choose a smooth light and you can see a wide blue sky. The color of the flowers will be clearer and the sky will be darker compared to backlighting.
4. Distinguish between the protagonist and the supporting role

When it comes to lavender, it's purple, but it's a rare white variety. The main color is white, so it's hard to stand out, but the overall color is purple and white, which is eye-catching. By creating a chromatic aberration between the subject and the background, the main character can stand out, and another difference that can be made is the difference between sharpness and blur. If only the protagonist is in focus and everything else is outside the focus, then only the sharp protagonist will stand out. You can also distinguish between light and dark, such as sunlight and shadow, as well as color.
5. When making multiple exposures, pay attention to the blurred position
摄影器材:OM System E-M1 Mark II + M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150mm F2.8 PRO,多重曝光 摄影环境:光圈优先、130mm、F2.8、ISO200、1/500 秒
Lavender layered with circular bokeh. If there are trees nearby, you can create a circular bokeh by blurring the sunlight through the trees. However, if there are no trees at a suitable distance to produce a circular blur, you can use multiple exposures to overlap the blur. The first exposure captured only lavender, and the second captured the blurring effect of sunlight streaming through the trees. By layering them, you can add shimmering bokeh to an otherwise empty space. If the bokeh overlaps with the subject, the subject will become blurry, so when layering a circular bokeh, consider the position of the subject and place the bokeh to avoid this.
Sixth, the outlook is largely vague

Find the flowers in the back from between the plants when shooting, the angle is set slightly lower than the flowers, which will blur the stocks in the foreground, giving a sense of depth. If you shoot from a height, there will be no foreground blur, so the image will look ordinary. If the angle is exactly the same as the height of the flower, the protagonist will be out of focus. So if you shoot from a slightly lower angle than the flower in the foreground, you'll get foreground blur, and the subject won't be covered by foreground blur due to the slight height difference.
7. Create change through color combinations

Lavender fields are all purple, so it's hard to create color variations, but if you're planting other flowers, try combining those colors. The red color in the background is salvia, and the orange color is marigold. The white bokeh directly behind is a white lavender color with cool purple, warm red, and orange colors, but since they are light colors, they don't clash and blend well together. On the other hand, you can use marigold as the main character and lavender purple as the background, so create the fun of variation by changing the main character and changing the color combination.
8. Summary
Lavender tends to be all purple, so in order to create variation, different lenses, focal points, and light choices need to be used to create variation. If you find yourself always taking pictures in the same way, try trying something new, such as using a lens you wouldn't normally choose or changing angles. #夏日生活打卡季#
