After more than two months of renovation and upgrading, recently, the surrounding environment of the ancestral tomb of the family of Peking Opera master Mr. Mei Lanfang - Mei's ancestral tomb (yíng) [ancestral cemetery] has been completely renewed.
East of Taizhou City, Mei's ancestor
Mei's ancestral temple is located in Majiawang, an oblique bridge in the east of Taizhou City (now southwest of Taizhou Sports School, Chunhui Road, Hailing District). When Mr. Mei Lanfang returned to his hometown in March 1956, in addition to giving wonderful performances to his parents and fellow villagers, it was an important arrangement to recognize his ancestors and go to the grave to worship his ancestors.
"On March 9 of that year, Mr. and Mrs. Mei took Mei Baojiu, accompanied by the then city leaders and brother Mei Xiudong, to the ancestral land of the Mei family to pay respects." Xu Tonghua, chairman of the Hailing District Federation of Literary and Art Circles and an expert in literature and history, told the publisher that in front of the ancestral grave, Mr. Mei Lanfang respectfully added soil to the ancestral grave, laid a wreath, and bowed deeply three times.
After Mr. Mei's death, Mei Baochen, Mei Shaowu, Mei Baoyue, Mei Baojiu and other Mei descendants returned to their hometowns many times to pay tribute to their ancestors and visit relatives to perform. Every Qingming Festival, some citizens will also spontaneously go to the ancestral shrine to pay respects.
Plum blossom imprint, Ji Mei Nianmei
This year marks the 130th anniversary of Mr. Mei Lanfang's birth, and the municipal and district governments attach great importance to it and increase the inheritance and protection of important urban cultural imprints, including Mei's ancestors.
"Mr. Mei's surname is Mei, and he also loves Mei, not only does he sing well, but he also has superb calligraphy and painting. His study was named Yu Xuan, also known as the Plum Blossom Poetry House. His life's paintings are mainly plums, and most of the paintings are red plums, sparse branches and red calyxes, and fight snow in the wind, so as to express his national integrity. Xu Tonghua said.
In order to commemorate Master Mei Lanfang, in the renovation and upgrading of Zuqi, the imprint of "Mei" was implanted everywhere.

The relevant departments have given strong support to the protection and inheritance of the cultural imprints of Mei's ancestors and other operas.
In addition, in order to let "Mei Lang's hometown" see Mei Lang everywhere and listen to drama everywhere, the theme map of Mei Lanfang's hometown and the book "Mei Lanfang in Taizhou" are also being edited and printed.
