On August 12, in the rice field of Reservoir Village, Caojing Town, the first batch of "August japonica" this year was officially harvested, which also means that the efficient crop rotation mode of "vegetable + rice + vegetable" pioneered by Caojing Town has been harvested
The rice field is golden, and the combine harvester is harvesting the rice in order, and the wind is blowing, and the rice fragrance is bursting and refreshing. Yin Yuwei, head of the Shanghai Yuhai Rice Planting Cooperative, which is responsible for planting "August Japonica", said: "'August Japonica' belongs to japonica rice, and the steamed rice is full and translucent, soft and glutinous, sweet and fragrant, which is very in line with the eating habits of Shanghai people. ”
"August japonica" is different from the traditional rice has the characteristics of long growth period, long occupation time and high rice production cost, its growth period is only more than 3 months, and the cooperative adopts the efficient rotation mode of "vegetable + rice + vegetable" under the guidance of the rice cultivator of Caojing Town Agricultural and Rural Service Center, which greatly improves the land utilization rate and farmers' income.
"We sow 'August japonica' in May and harvest it in August, so that the free time is used to grow vegetables, so that farmers can obtain greater profits." Yin Yuwei said. This model not only helps to increase soil fertility, but also reduces pests and diseases, improving the quality and yield of agricultural products.
This year, the cooperative planted nearly 300 acres of "August japonica", with an average yield of more than 450 kilograms per mu. It is understood that during the rice planting period, the rice cultivators of the Caojing Town Agricultural and Rural Service Center will supervise the whole process and provide farmers with scientific planting plans.
Xiang Jiahui, a rice cultivator at the Caojing Town Agricultural and Rural Service Center, said: "At present, most of the rice in Caojing Town has entered the jointing and earing stage, during which we can observe the leaves and leaf age of the rice to remind farmers to pay attention to the growth period of rice and carry out appropriate field management, so as to improve their scientific management level." ”
