Nissan Motor recently released the 2025 Altima model in overseas markets, which is known as the Teana in China.
A total of seven configurations will be available for the new model, including the new SV and SV AWD models, with a starting price of US$27,000 or about 194,000 yuan overseas.
As a mid-life facelift, the 2025 Altima has undergone significant changes in the powertrain, eliminating the 2.0-liter engine and offering only a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine in favour.
In addition, the SV Special Edition model was introduced, which added body-coloured exterior mirrors, rear spoiler, sunroof and 17-inch glossy black alloy wheels.
Inside, the SV Special Edition model comes with dual-zone automatic climate control, a 12.3-inch infotainment system and wireless phone charging, while faux carbon fiber trim, welcome pedal lights and remote start are added.
It's worth noting that the entry-level Altima S model's central display has been upgraded to an 8-inch infotainment system, replacing the previous 7-inch screen, although Nissan hasn't advertised this widely.
The launch of the 2025 Altima showcases Nissan's efforts to improve vehicle configuration and driving experience, while the powertrain tweaks reflect the need for more efficient powertrain solutions.
At the 2024 Pebble Beach Motor Show, the Mercedes-Maybach SL-Class officially debuted, becoming a brand new model that showcases luxury charm.
The new car is based on the AMG SL and has been given a more luxurious finish on the exterior and interior to reflect the unique character of the Maybach brand.
In terms of exterior design, the Maybach SL-Class borrows the concept of the AMG Mythos speedster concept, with the front bonnet in a different color design than the body, and the chrome trim strip running through and printing the Maybach logo badge.
The front grille is Maybach's classic dense-width waterfall design, with a large number of chrome decorations, showing a noble temperament.
On the side of the body, the fabric on the soft-top convertible mechanism is printed with the Maybach logo, which is expected to be customized for production.
The rims feature a close-spoke design with a central single lock trim and chrome accents on the side skirts for added sophistication.
The rear design is largely the same as the AMG version, but the rear bumper is covered with a continuous chrome trim strip and the exhaust is layered to reflect the brand's identity.
In terms of interior, the Maybach SL-Class offers dual-color interior color matching and accepts the customized needs of car owners.
It is equipped with a full LCD instrument cluster, a luxurious three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, and a longitudinal touch screen with adjustable angles in the center of the center console to provide a comfortable and technological driving experience.
In terms of power, the new car will be equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a maximum power of 585 horsepower, mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission, and the model names are SL580 and SL680 respectively.
It is reported that the new model is scheduled to be delivered in the European market in the spring of 2025, and will be sold in other regions such as North America subsequently.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Polestar Brand Experience Center in Shanghai on August 16, Shen Ziyu, Chairman and CEO of Polestar Technology, emphasized the importance of China's automotive industry entering the markets of developed Western countries, and considered Polestar to be a key strategic fulcrum for Geely in this process.
Shen Ziyu mentioned that although it is difficult for Chinese brands to gain recognition in Western markets, Polestar ranks second in China's export ranking to Europe in 2023, with twice as many exports as BYD.
Qin Peiji, COO of Polestar Technology, also pointed out that although Polestar may not be well-known in China, it has a strong brand, including Polestar 4, and is expected to quickly close the gap with market leaders by relying on strong genes and capabilities.
Shen admits that Polestar needs time to develop, and recognises the current situation and timing in the Chinese market, making it clear that it takes time for the brand to develop.
Polestar is currently working on two new models, the Polestar 7 and Polestar 8, which are expected to be launched over the next two years.
Shen Ziyu said that despite the challenges of the slowdown in the EV market and price pressures, Polestar will continue to invest in the development of new products.
Polestar's global strength is clear, ranking first in exports to the United States in 2023 and second in the European market.
Polestar has established 192 retail locations and 1,149 service locations worldwide, with plans to expand to 34 countries in seven new markets including France, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Thailand and Brazil by 2025.
Shen Ziyu also revealed that Polestar 3 has started production in South Carolina, United States, and Polestar 4 is planned to be produced in Korea in 2025.
However, Polestar's success in the Chinese market still faces challenges, and Qin Peiji argued that new EVs need to succeed at both the product and brand ends, and Polestar is working towards this goal.
Polestar's goal is to achieve a balance of product, brand and price within 2-3 years to secure its position in a highly competitive market.
