The critically acclaimed samurai animated series "Blue-Eyed Samurai" won Best Animated Program at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, Deadline reported. Previously, the series won three Jury Prizes at last month's Emmy Awards for outstanding achievement in storyboarding, production design, and character design. At the Emmys, "Blue-Eyed Samurai" competed with "The Simpsons," "Happy Burger," "X-Men 97" and "Scavenger Domination," while it also won six Annie Awards earlier this year.
After airing its first season last year, "Blue-Eyed Samurai" was well-received and quickly renewed for a second season, but no release date has yet been announced.
According to Michael Green, he and his wife/co-creator Amber Noizumi are currently "writing the storyscript for the second season" and praised Netflix for giving them creative freedom.
As for how far they hope to take the story of The Blue Eye Samurai, Green said: "At the moment, we are planning three seasons. We've got a renewal for a second season and hopefully a third season will be around as well, because we definitely have plans. We're imagining three seasons now. I think we were talking about the four seasons to Collider in an interview, and then all of a sudden it became 'official'. That's what you say when you're not used to being interviewed. ”
