Since its establishment in Macao in 2006, the annual competition has attracted 400 top badminton players from about 20 countries and regions around the world to participate in the tournament every year.

A total of 375 athletes from 30 countries and regions signed up for the competition, including 259 athletes who were eligible to compete in Macao, including Zhang Shuxian, ranked fifth in the women's doubles world; Wang Qilin, the men's doubles gold medalist at the Paris Olympics; Hong Kong, China men's singles Lee Cheuk-yiu, Ng Ka-long, mixed doubles Tang Chun-man, Tse Ying-suet; Thailand women's singles prodigy Rachano; World Youth Women's Singles champion Yuka Miyazaki; and two-time Women's Singles champion Lee Man-shan of the 2018 and 2019 Macau Open.
