According to Formula Leopard Automobile, the Leopard 8 is developed based on BYD's 2.0T DMO electric drive off-road pioneering platform, which is mainly electric and takes into account urban and off-road traffic. The car is equipped with a 2.0T plug-in hybrid system, with a maximum power of 2.0T engine of 200 kilowatts (declared data), a comprehensive maximum power of 550 kilowatts, and an intelligent electric four-wheel drive system composed of front and rear motors. In addition, according to the declaration information, the car is equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of 36.864 kWh, a pure electric range of 100 kilometers under WLTC comprehensive working conditions, and a comprehensive fuel consumption of 8.87 liters per 100 kilometers under the feeding state.
At the same time, the car is equipped with the Yunlin-P intelligent hydraulic body control system, with a minimum ground clearance of 220 mm, and the ground clearance of the Yunlin-P can reach 310 mm after being raised.
In terms of chassis, the car supports a maximum of 140 mm suspension adjustment stroke, and can automatically adjust the suspension height according to speed and driving mode; Support three-stage stiffness adjustment, active damping continuous adjustment; It supports active preview, linkage of lidar and camera, and can identify various road conditions such as potholes and textures; It also supports four-wheel linkage, real-time transient adjustment, etc.
In terms of appearance, the Leopard 8 continues the exterior design style of the Leopard 5, with a more complex front grille shape and the addition of a black lacquered guard. The Leopard 8 has a cleaner side with concealed door handles and black wheel arches, while the side skirts incorporate a "super lock" design.
The rear of the car features a wrap-around spare wheel cover and is equipped with a full-size spare tire, the tailgate is side-opening, and the taillights are highly recognizable when lit. Including spare tires, the length, width and height of the Leopard 8 are 5195/1994/1875 mm, wheelbase 2920 mm, the car height is 1905 mm when the optional roof rack. At the same time, the car is also optional up to 2.5 tons of trailer qualifications.
In addition, the Leopard 8 is equipped with a preview system on the roof and a side-facing camera on the front fenders. Previously, BYD and Huawei signed a cooperation agreement on intelligent driving, and the Leopard 8 may become the first BYD product to use Huawei's Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 3.0, which will support urban and high-speed NOA functions in the future. According to the official picture, the interior of the Leopard 8 is also based on the design concept of "future starship aesthetics", and the center console is equipped with a large-size floating central control screen, a full LCD instrument and a co-pilot entertainment screen. At the same time, behind the central armrest box, the Leopard 8 is also equipped with 2 LCD screens, which can control the multimedia and air conditioning systems separately. The Leopard 8 is available in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations, with the 6-seater version having separate seats in the second row with folding armrests on the inside of the seats, which can be electrically adjusted, and is expected to support ventilation and heating functions.
