The mid-size SUV market has always been a strong player, and although there are new faces trying to challenge it from time to time, the overall landscape has not changed much. However, the August sales data shows that the market ranking has fluctuated greatly.
According to the latest mid-size SUV sales statistics in August, only 9 of the 96 participating models sold more than 10,000 units. Among them, Tesla's Model Y sales are far ahead, surpassing the sales of the second to fourth places combined. The BYD Song L DM-i won the runner-up in the first listing, and the sales were very hot. Tanyue squeezed into the top three, while Tiggo 8 slipped to fifth.
In addition, the Tiguan L and the Jet X70 also made it into the top 10. It is worth mentioning that the sales of the Leopard 5 after the price reduction have increased significantly, and the ranking has risen by 12 places, and the sales volume in August is close to 5,000 units, which is a surprising result. However, the Leopard 5 ultimately failed to make the top 20, while the Tiguan L was sixth and Song L took the runner-up position.
Specifically, among the top 20 models in terms of sales, the sales threshold has reached 5,000 units. Tesla's Model Y leads the way with more than 45,000 units, BYD Song L DM-i and Tanyue sales are around 15,000 units, and Mercedes-Benz GLC, Tiggo 8 and Tiguan L are all around 13,000 units. NIO ES6, Hongqi HS5 and Deep Blue S07 sold around 7,000 units, while Leapmotor C11, Fengyun T9 and Highlander sold around 6,000 units. The BMW X3 and the M5 also round out the top 20.
Other models such as Crown Lufang and Xpeng G6 sold more than 5,000 units, Leopard 5 sold 4,876 units, Nezha L and Jietu X90 sold around 3,000 units, while Xingtu Lingyun, Edge and Navigator sold just over 2,000 units, with a mediocre performance. The sales of the Jietu Shanhai L9 and Cadillac XT5 are about 1,500 units, the sales of Ford Liema, Jetta VS7 and Guandao are around 1,000 units, and the sales of Weisa and Denza N7 are even less than 1,000 units.
The new model Zeekr 7X, which was only launched in September, delivered 771 units in August, while the Frigate 07 and Honda UR-V sold around 600 units. The sales of Ruilan 9, Kodiak, Explorer, Hyundai Shengda, and ARCFOX Alpha T did not exceed 500 units, and the market performance was relatively weak. As for models such as the Ford Electric Horse, Fengxing T5, Maxus D60 and EVOS, sales are even less than 100 units.
