iPhone users have a new way to customize the Home Screen, Lock Screen, and Control Center. Users can now configure apps and widgets anywhere on the home screen, such as placing them directly above the Dock for easy access, or framing them around the background image. The new design gives users quick access to groups of controls they use most, such as media playback, Home controls, and connectivity, and easily switches between options. Users can now add controls from supported third-party apps to Control Center and quickly unlock their vehicles or start shooting for social media directly in one place.

The new Controls Gallery showcases a full set of available controls that can be configured in a way that allows users to customize how they are configured, from resizing them to creating new groups of options.

iMessage introduces a new text effect that brings conversations to life with lively animations that highlight any letter, word, phrase or emoji. Users can use bold, underline, italics, and strikethrough formats to make the tone more obvious.

The Photos app has been revamped for the most ever, making it easy for users to find and relive special moments.

With a streamlined, single-view view in a familiar grid style, the new collection helps users browse photos by theme without having to organize them into albums. You can also pin a collection to the top for easy access to your favorite photos.

The new Carousel View shows a curated selection of your favorite people, pets, places, and more, and it's updated daily. Autoplay content throughout the app allows users to relive the past while browsing photos.

Every user's photo library is unique, so the Photos app can be customized to let users organize their collections, pin them for frequent viewing, and add the photos that matter most to them in Carousel View.

Safari offers a new "Highlights" feature with an updated "Reader" experience.

Safari uses machine learning to surface key information about web pages. For example, users can browse through the summary of an article to see what is important; Quickly see the location of a restaurant, hotel, or landmark; Or listen to the artist's track from an article about a song or album.

The Reader has been revamped to provide more ways to focus on reading articles, with summaries and table of contents for long articles.

Apple Intelligence is deeply integrated with iOS 18 and designed with privacy in mind, opening up new ways for users to write and communicate more efficiently. With iOS 18's new system-wide Writing Tools, users can rewrite, proofread, and summarize text in Mail, Notes, Pages, and third-party apps—virtually anywhere they write.

For the first time, Apple has added a call recording feature to the iPhone, a new feature that allows users to record during a call, and provides AI-to-text and summary extraction.

Apple points out that when a call is recorded, the other party will receive a notification. While this may raise some concerns, it also reflects the importance that Apple places on user privacy and mutual consent.

It is understood that after upgrading iOS 18, the iPhone will support the call recording function, and Apple's Apple Intelligence will also generate a summary of recording information, so that users can understand the most important information at a glance.
