According to NBA Athletic Sam Amick, the Kings will try out Crowder and TJ Warren this week. Claude we've already written, today write TJ Warren. He was born on September 5, 1993, just after his 31st birthday, and now Warren is looking for jobs everywhere, and no one even gives him a basic salary contract! In fact, Warren almost lost his job last season......
After the opening of the free market in 2023, Warren has not been able to find a home. Until March 6 of this year, just over a month before the end of the regular season, the Timberwolves offered Warren a 10-day contract. After the contract expired, the two parties signed a second ten-day contract. It wasn't until March 26 that the Timberwolves signed Warren until the end of the season.
In the 2023-24 season, Warren played 11 regular season games for the Timberwolves, averaging 11.4 minutes per game, scoring only 3.7 points, 2 rebounds and 0.8 assists. He shot 43.9 percent from the field, a measly 15.4 percent from three-point range, and 75 percent from the free-throw line. In the playoffs, he played 3 games, played a total of 11 minutes, and got 0 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist in 0-of-2.
Looking further back, in the 2022-23 season, Warren played a total of 42 games with the Nets and Suns, averaging 16.4 minutes per game, scoring 7.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1 assist, and shooting 48.9%, 32.8%, and 80% from three. He didn't shoot well from three-point range, but he was also a qualified bench and was completely reduced to a role player in the 2023-24 season.
From 2017 to 2020, Warren averaged 18+ points per game for three consecutive seasons! In the 2019-20 season, Warren played the best performance of his career. He started 67 games for the Pacers, averaging 19.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Shot 53.6% from the field, 40.3% from three-point range, and 81.9% from the free throw line!
On August 2, 2020, Warren shot 53 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists on 20-of-29 shooting to lead the Pacers to a victory over the 76ers. In 10 games in the park, Warren averaged 26.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, with a three-point shooting rate of 48%, and was named the god of war in the park. Warren played just four games in the 2020-21 season and suffered a stress fracture in his left foot in January 2021.
The following 2021-22 season, Warren did not play a game. In the summer of 2022, Warren joined the Nets with a one-year salary. This major injury changed his career. On December 3, 2022, Warren, who had been recovering from injuries for nearly two years, finally returned. His form has plummeted, his points per game average has dropped to single digits, and he is now directly out of work.
In the 2014 draft, Warren was selected by the Suns with the 14th pick in the first round. The 13th pick that time was Booker and the 41st pick was Jokic. In his rookie season, Warren averaged 6.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. In the second season of his career, he averaged 11 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game, shooting 40% from three-point range, and scored double-doubles for the next six consecutive years.
Throughout his NBA career, Warren played a total of 385 regular season games, 236 of which were starts. He averaged 26.9 minutes per game, scoring 14.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.5 blocks, shooting 50.5%, 35.1% and 78% from three. He has only played in 13 playoff games, averaging 7.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.8 steals per game.
Final question: With Warren's current form, do you think he will be able to return to the NBA?
