From September 21 to 22, the 2024-2025 FIS Freestyle Skiing Aerials Summer Grand Prix will be held in Qinhuangdao, with Xu Mengtao leading the Chinese aerials team, marking the beginning of this season's Chinese snow events.
In the 2024-2025 season, a number of top international snow events will be held in China, which will not only make full use of the important Winter Olympic legacies such as the Shougang Big Air "Snow Flying Sky" and the National Bobsleigh Center "Snow Dragon", but also set off another ice and snow boom in China, consolidating and expanding the achievements of "bringing 300 million people to participate in ice and snow sports".
From 29 November to 1 December this year, the FIS Snowboard and Freestyle Skiing Big Air World Cup will be held at the Shougang Big Air "Snow Flying Sky", which is also the qualification point race for the Milan 2026 Winter Olympics. The Big Air and Shougang Park, which witnessed Gu Ailing and Su Yiming winning the gold medal of the Winter Olympics, have long become a holy place for ice and snow sports Internet celebrities to check in, attracting many tourists every year.
In last year's World Cup, Su Yiming returned to this Olympic "blessed land to win gold", and won the home championship with the highest score of 95.50 in the almost "crazy" atmosphere of the scene. This year, Su Yiming will most likely continue to lead the Chinese big air national team, and go all out for the Milan Winter Olympics ticket at this venue.
This winter, the Olympic Park in Yanqing District will host a feast of events, most notably the 2024-2025 FIBSB Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup Yanqing.
In the World Cup held at the "Snow Dragon" in November last year, Chinese women's skeleton athlete Zhao Dan won the second place, which was the first World Cup medal won by the Chinese women's skeleton team in the history; In the four-person bobsleigh event, the Chinese team composed of Sun Kaizhi, Zhen Heng, Ding Song and Ye Jielong won the bronze medal, which was the first World Cup medal won in the history of the Chinese men's bobsleigh event!
This year's Yanqing World Cup will be held from November 18 to 23, and the Chinese bobsleigh and skeleton teams will fully challenge for Milan's Winter Olympics. In addition, Yanqing will also host the International Luge Federation World Cup, the FIS Alpine Skiing Far East Cup and more this winter, and the public can enjoy the top ice and snow stars in the Yanqing Olympic Park.
In addition, from November 30 to December 1, the FIS Snowboard Parallel (Major) Slalom World Cup will be held in Merlin Valley, Inner Mongolia; From 3 to 6 December and from 10 to 13 December, Chongli Wanlong Ski Resort will host the FIS Alpine Skiing Giant Slalom and Slalom World Cup competitions; From December 13th to 15th, Zhangjiakou Chongli will also host the Ski Jumping World Cup sub-station at the National Ski Jumping Center "Xue Ruyi" to compete for the HS106 standard jump.
Another high-profile event is the Freestyle Skiing and Snowboard Halfpipe World Cup at Genting Snow Park Chongli, the venue of the Winter Olympics, from December 5 to 8. In December last year, Gu Ailing also returned to this "blessed land of winning gold" after winning gold in the Winter Olympics, and won the first World Cup gold medal of the season without any suspense. Despite the cold weather, many snow and ice enthusiasts came to the scene, not only to watch the game, but also to take the opportunity to have a good snow ride at Genting Snow Park.
At present, Gu Ailing has won the gold medal at the U-pool World Cup in New Zealand in early September, and looks forward to continuing her good form in Genting.
In the post-Winter Olympics era, snow events will be held to further leverage the Winter Olympic heritage in terms of venues, talents, and equipment to promote the development of professional competition and popular ice and snow sports. As Ding Dong, director of the Department of Mass Sports of the General Administration of Sports of the People's Republic of China, said at a series of press conferences on the theme of "promoting high-quality development", events are a catalyst for the development of national fitness, and it is necessary to increase the promotion and popularization of ice and snow projects and promote the mastery and improvement of ice and snow sports by the masses.
