In 1984, Beijing solemnly held the 60 th anniversary of the Huangpu Military Academy.
Founding General Chen Zaidao attended the event, and what is strange is that as soon as General Chen Zaidao arrived at the scene, he directly asked to see a famous Kuomintang general who had been captured by our army.
Regarding this captured Kuomintang general, Chen Zaidao said with emotion in his later years: "He is one of the most capable Kuomintang generals I have ever seen, and the Battle of Yangshanji that I fought with him was the hardest battle I fought in my military career, and it was also one of the battles with the greatest casualties." ”
One, 50,000 to 12,000 almost can't be beaten
This person's name is Song Ruike.
On July 13, 1947, Nakano led by Liu Bocheng launched the Southwest Lu Campaign.
Under the outstanding command of Liu Bocheng and the fearless fighting of the soldiers in the middle field, the three integrated divisions under the command of the Kuomintang Wang Jingjiu Corps were quickly eaten two of them.
However, when Nakano tried to eat Song Ruike's integrated 66th Division, he encountered a bitter battle with great losses in the Yangshanji area.
The strength of the integrated 66th Division stationed in Yangshanji is about 12,000 people, and the two columns of Chen Zaidao and Chen Xilian are responsible for attacking Yangshanji, with a total of more than 57,000 people.
On the night of July 13, the two columns divided into two lines and launched a fierce attack on the positions of the reorganized 66th Division.
Unfortunately, under the enemy's strong fortifications and strong firepower, Chen Zaidao and Chen Xilian's column had to temporarily retreat due to too many casualties, and the first attack was declared a failure.
On the evening of the 14th, the two columns of Erchen successfully captured the two important commanding heights of Yangshanji, but under the desperate counterattack of the reorganized 66th Division, Chen Zaidao and other two columns had to retreat again, and the second attack failed again.
On the 15th, Nakano threw three columns into a fierce attack on Song Ruike's reorganized 66th Division.
By July 23, Yangshanji had already alarmed Chairman Mao, and three columns could not be attacked for a long time, and once Chiang Kai-shek mobilized heavy troops to reinforce Song Ruike, Chen Zaidao and several other columns, there was even a danger of being counter-surrounded.
Chairman Mao personally sent a telegram to Nakano, and the point of the message was that if he really couldn't take it, he wouldn't fight.
However, Liu Bocheng thought that if this battle was not fought well, not only would Nakano's strategy after China not be realized, but it would also deal a great blow to the morale of Nakano's entire army.
As a result, under Liu Bocheng's personal deployment, the artillery fire of the Nakano troops attacking Yangshanji was greatly strengthened, and Chen Zaidao also gave Liu Bocheng a military order.
On the afternoon of July 27, under Nakano's attack regardless of sacrifice, Song Ruike, who had run out of ammunition and food, and was isolated and helpless, had to lead a few of his subordinates to surrender.
In this battle, although our army completely annihilated the reorganized 66th Division, Nakano also paid more than 10,000 casualties, which can be described as an out-and-out tragic victory.
2. Chiang Kai-shek wanted to save the only captured general of the Nationalist army
After the war, Chiang Kai-shek convened a military review meeting in Qingdao.
Chiang Kai-shek openly said: "Soong Ruike is a model for the party-state, and we must rescue General Soong Ruike at all costs." ”
As Song Ruike's direct boss, Chen Cheng was also very sad about Song Ruike's capture, and after hearing this, Chen Cheng immediately spoke: "The chairman is right, we must save a famous general like Commander Song who is loyal to the party-state and has caused heavy casualties to the communist army. ”
In the entire war of liberation, the Kuomintang captured countless generals, but Chiang Kai-shek publicly said that he wanted to save the Kuomintang generals, Song Ruike was the only one.
Among the captured generals of the Kuomintang, Song Ruike was only a division commander, and his rank was not high, so why did Chiang Kai-shek publicly say that he wanted to rescue Song Ruike?
First of all, Song Ruike's battle in Yangshanji did cause a lot of casualties to our army, which is also a rare victory in the national army, which shows that Song Ruike is a famous general who can fight.
Secondly, Song Ruike showed loyalty to the Kuomintang in Yangshanji.
Unlike many Kuomintang generals, when Song Ruike surrendered, he had run out of ammunition and food, and reinforcements had not appeared for a long time.
It is said that at the end of the battle, Song Ruike also tried to shoot himself, if it was not for the chief of staff to stop him, it is estimated that Song Ruike would really have "killed himself".
Chiang Kai-shek has always been very fond of loyal generals, and the Kuomintang also lacked such generals, so Chiang Kai-shek had to say things like rescuing Song Ruike out of political showmanship, so that other Kuomintang generals could fight to the death.
In the end, Song Ruike is Chen Cheng's confidant, why didn't Chiang Kai-shek's words be to entrap Chen Cheng?
Of course, Chiang Kai-shek said that he would save people, but this was just talk.
In November 1960, after 13 years of re-education through labor, Song Ruike was pardoned.
3. Chen Zaidao is a famous general of the national army
Speaking of Song Ruike, Chen Zaidao mentioned in his later years that among the many generals of the Kuomintang, Song Ruike was one of the famous generals he respected and admired the most, and the Battle of Yangshanji was also the most difficult battle in his military career.
The reason why Chen Zaidao respects Song Ruike is that Song Ruike's military literacy in Yangshanji is one of them, after all, although Song Ruike was an enemy at that time, as a soldier, Song Ruike was able to rely on a division to withstand the attack of more than 50,000 people in Zhongye for more than ten days, this ability is indeed worthy of Chen Zaidao's admiration.
Chen Zaidao respects Song Ruike for another reason, that is, Song Ruike performed very well in the War of Resistance against Japan, and was a real anti-Japanese hero and famous general.
After the full-scale outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, in order to be able to fight the Japan invaders without any worries, Song Ruike sent his children back to his hometown in Laoshan.
Song Ruike participated in a series of large-scale battles such as the Battle of Xuzhou and the Battle of Wuhan.
In May 1940, the Battle of Zaoyi broke out, and at this time, Song Ruike was the commander of the 18th Division of the 199th Army.
In the two-month battle, Song Ruike led the 199th Division and the Japanese army to fight bloodily, and the 199th Division successfully killed a Japanese commander of the Dazuo Wing.
In this battle, the 199th Division itself suffered very heavy casualties, one regiment commander was killed, and the 199th Division was fully composed of 12 battalions at the beginning of the war, and in the end, only 4 battalions remained.
At the height of the battle, Song Ruike personally commanded the front-line, and at that time, the Japanese artillery exploded near the headquarters from time to time.
In the following years, Song Ruike participated in the first and second battles of Changsha, as well as the Battle of Changde.
In September 1944, Song Ruike, then the commander of the 66th Army, led his troops to participate in the Battle of Yuxianggui.
Under the frantic attack of the two divisions of the Japanese army, Song Ruike led the army to hold Wuzhou for two whole months and annihilated more than 3,000 Japanese soldiers.
It can be said that on the battlefield of resistance against Japan, Song Ruike was definitely one of the most outstanding generals among the Kuomintang generals.
Many scholars have pointed out that in terms of military command ability, Song Ruike's ability is even better than Zhang Lingfu's.
General Chen Zaidao recalled the Battle of Yangshanji in his later years, and he felt a lot of emotion, and General Chen Zaidao recalled with a face: "Song Ruike did not look like a soldier, but a scholar, but the Kuomintang reorganized the 66th Division, under its command, and fought very tenaciously. ”
