preface
We may not know how cruel the war was in times of peace, but we can feel that history by reading articles from the past.
On March 14, 1985, a book of "A Conversation with Hot-blooded Men" was published. Through some concise answers, this article vividly reflects the heroic posture of the soldiers on the battlefield in the eighties at that time.
Among them, just a small story of a soldier immediately caused an uproar at the time, and such a huge response was just because he took a look at it when he stood guard?!
So who exactly is this warrior? How did he set a first-class merit record for the People's Liberation Army with his own eyes? And what kind of personality charm made everyone convinced at that time?
He was the combat hero of the counterattack against Vietnam, the soldier who killed the most Viet Nam agents at one time and the holder of the highest record, and later became the company commander of the 3rd Beijing Guard Division, Huang Dengping.
Various obstructions and backgrounds to the Vietnamese counterattack
In fact, the reason why the border war in Viet Nam lasted so long was not only to show our military capabilities to the international community at that time, but also for a deeper reason, that is, to train soldiers.
You must know that the soldiers in our army at that time had actually undergone a round of reshuffle, and even veterans did not have much actual combat experience.
In order to train the actual combat ability of the soldiers, the Sino-Vietnamese operation was also to cultivate the "bloodiness" of the soldiers, and Huang Dengping was one of these "trainee" soldiers at that time.
At that time, Huang Dengping graduated from a military academy and accumulated a lot of military-related knowledge early. Therefore, in the early days of participating in the war, Huang Dengping was already a trainee staff officer under the command of the regiment.
Generally speaking, the position of a midshipman staff officer is relatively low, but he is still responsible for very important work, such as strategy, tactics, logistics and information management.
After collecting information, the midship's staff officer also needs to further organize this information and intelligence to provide the most basic data support for decision-making at that time.
You must know that at that time, we were fighting against the Vietnamese army, and we were facing the "Viet Cong" that terrified the US military. These Vietnamese soldiers will use all kinds of tunnels, traps, tricks and poisons to create obstacles for our soldiers, and it is indeed a huge project to analyze all this information.
"Sneak Attack Master" in the Vietnam War
Not only those strange traps, but even more headache were the Viet Nam agents at the time. At the beginning of the Sino-Vietnamese War, in order to further strengthen their stealth capabilities, these Viet Nam agents often used dark nights, fog and various complex weather conditions to sneak attack us.
Due to the high moral literacy of our fighters, they will never do anything to the local villagers when they arrive in various Viet Nam areas, which makes Viet Nam agents often confused among the villagers in an attempt to deceive our fighters and obtain information.
What's even trickier is that these Viet Nam agents will work on their own clothing, such as applying various color-changing agents, smearing mud on their bare bodies, and even using local leaves as a camouflage in order to achieve the effect of "unity of man and earth".
This posed a big problem for our PLA soldiers at that time: when inspecting villages in Viet Nam, these agents were disguised exactly like the villagers and could not be detected at all; However, if we take tough measures against the villagers, our moral bottom line will not allow it.
Therefore, these Viet Nam agents are like "scoundrels" on the battlefield, which gives us a lot of headaches. However, in any case, these Viet Nam agents will eventually be sent to the battlefield, and the key is how to "catch them all".
By November 1984, Huang Dengping had been assigned to the forefront of Laoshan at this time. Due to the proximity of the positions at that time to the enemy, the damp fog could not hide the strong smell of gunpowder at all.
Almost every few dozen meters close to the enemy camp, there are bound to encounter various obstacles, whether it is the simple traps on the road or the thunder that rings around from time to time, all of which make the soldiers fight 120 points of spirit.
Of course, it's always good to pay a little more attention, so our PLA often arranges for troops to take turns on duty to keep an eye on these Vietnamese agents. However, the Vietnamese army agents did not expect that this time their "good days" came to an end.
Keep an eye on the details
In December of the same year, Huang Dengping was arranged to lead a class of people to the main peak at that time to lurk. Strangely, he saw traces of the enemy, but did not find the enemy.
After all, at that time, we also "got along" with these Viet Nam agents, and Huang Dengping also had a general understanding of what they were like. Therefore, he always reminded the soldiers to pay more attention.
However, despite staying up all night, they were unable to find the Vietnamese army agents. The fighters were constantly in a state of high tension and inevitably felt tired.
In addition, the terrain of the old mountain at that time was high and the weather was cold, and it didn't take long for the entire main peak to be shrouded in dense fog. At this time, Hoang Teng Binh, who was already drowsy, immediately realized that in this weather, Viet Nam agents were likely to launch a sneak attack, so he communicated urgently with the observer.
Sure enough, in this dense fog, Huang Dengping found intermittent Vietnamese army agents, and after careful observation, he found that there were 15 of these Vietnamese army agents!
You may not be aware of the importance of these 15 people, whose military capabilities are roughly equivalent to the military strength of 3 regiments. Don't be surprised, because the combat power of these Viet Nam agents is indeed extremely valuable.
At that time, Hoang Teng Binh realized that if he shot rashly in this foggy weather, the light and sound of the guns would alarm the Vietnamese soldiers. What's more, the accuracy of the bullet in dense fog is also an issue.
After a short discussion, Huang Dengping and his group of fighters also decided to sneak around and use grenades to deal direct damage to avoid startling the snake.
Soon, the plan was implemented. As grenades were thrown, the screams of the Viet Nam agents mingled with the sound of explosions. However, it was clear that bombardment alone would not be enough to completely destroy these enemies, so the comrades immediately launched a careful sweep to ensure that all the troops were annihilated.
Soon, Huang Dengping noticed blood stains outside a stone cave, and he looked shallowly inside, and there seemed to be no other exit. So, he decisively ordered all the grenades in his hand to be thrown into the hole. Soon, in the dull sound of explosions, we saw 6 broken corpses.
Together with the 9 corpses killed directly on the battlefield, a total of 15 Vietnamese agents were eliminated, which is exactly the same number. The fighters were quick to report the results, noting that the entire battle lasted only an hour and that we had achieved zero casualties.
And this successful elimination of Vietnamese agents also set a record in the history of our elimination of agents, a record that was not broken until the end of the Sino-Vietnamese War.
summary
In the end, Huang Dengping's squad was awarded first-class merit, and as the leader and commander of the operation, Huang Dengping was also awarded second-class merit.
If it weren't for the boldness and carefulness of our Huang Dengping at that time, these 15 Vietnamese agents would definitely have had a huge impact on the Sino-Vietnamese war at that time.
It is precisely because of our Huang Dengping's boldness and carefulness that he has won the corresponding rewards and fame. These are indeed examples worth learning from for us in times of peace. It is precisely because of his decision that Huang Dengping is destined to become a famous figure in history!
