Singapore's Circle Line subway just had a technical failure last Tuesday (September 17), but not long after, the East-West Line subway service also broke down today (September 25), and it will take at least a day to repair.
This is likely to be the longest disruption in Singapore's history.
This morning, when many people were taking the subway, they found that on the screen of the subway station, the train service of the East-West Line was "interrupted".

At 9:52 a.m., SMRT posted a message on Facebook stating that the MRT service from Boon Lay to Queenstown was not available due to a power failure, and that free shuttle bus service would be provided at the affected MRT stations.

On the affected routes, train services on the East-West Line at 9 MRT stations – Boon Lay, Lakeside, Yuhua Garden, Jurong East, Clementi, Dover, Bona Vista, Commonwealth and Queenstown – are suspended.
The faulty train just stopped on the tracks, and SMRT dispatched staff to direct the passengers on the train to a nearby subway station.
DEATH
Although there have been frequent subway breakdowns in Singapore recently, it is quite rare to get passengers off the train and walk back from the tracks back to the MRT station on foot.

Some netizens posted that the train he took stopped at Clementian for an hour, but the passengers on the train seemed very calm, and they were still a little excited when walking the track, and said that this was unlocking a new experience of walking the track in Singapore.

Many people were late for work due to the disruption of MTR services, and the MTR company also issued Travel Chit to the affected passengers so that employees could explain the reason for their tardiness to the company.

Compared to being late for work, the delay on the subway on the plane is even more frustrating. Some netizens said that he waited for half an hour and finally got the online car-hailing car and successfully caught the plane.

Although the MTR company provided shuttle buses, the number was not enough, and passengers lined up outside the subway station for a long time, and the weather was not beautiful and it was raining.

The Land Transport Authority later issued a statement explaining the cause of the accident: a first-generation train manufactured by Kawasaki Heavy Industries broke down while traveling near Clementi Station at about 9 a.m. this morning. SMRT asked the passengers to get off the train and pulled the train back to the Ulu Pandan Depot.
The train tripped during the return process, causing the train to stop between Queenstown and Boon Lay Station.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the damaged trains had caused damage to the tracks when they returned to the depot.

Due to the severity of the damage, the East-West Line train service between Boon Lay and Queenstown stations cannot be restored today. The Land Transport Authority and SMRT will conduct further assessments tonight to see if train services can resume tomorrow (26th).
In the past, Singapore's subway delays could be recovered in as fast as one or two hours and as slow as four or five hours, and it can be said that it is very rare to have a subway failure that has not been solved in one day and may be delayed until the next day.
Since 2015, Singapore's MRT has experienced three major breakdowns. One was in July 2015, when the North-South and East-West lines broke down for several hours, affecting more than 250,000 passengers.
Another was on October 7, 2017, when the subway service between Bishan and Bled was interrupted for 20 hours.
If today's technical glitch is not eliminated and tomorrow's MRT service is affected, it will surpass the record of 2017 and become the longest MRT service disruption in Singapore.
Some people say that former Minister of Transportation Yi Warren pleaded guilty in court yesterday, and the subway came out like this today, is it for him?
SMRT Chairman She Wenmin and Group President Yin Yunbin posted on Facebook at 4:28 p.m., expressing their deepest apologies to all passengers for the disruption of metro services caused by the power failure, and promising to resume services as soon as possible.
