Newspapers and the Internet all introduced that Liu Dahua was born on March 3, 1950 in Huangpi District, Wuhan City, but Liu Dahua corrected his birthplace in an interview.
In fact, he was born in Chongqing, and his father, Liu Wensheng, was the director of the Kuomintang's Hubei Provincial Field and Grain Department, and went to Chongqing in 1948. After the liberation of Chongqing, Liu Wensheng was retained by the PLA air defense forces.
Soon after Liu Dahua was born, his parents took him and his two older brothers back to Wuhan, Hubei.
Liu Wensheng did not have a regular job, but he was tall and burly, and he was full of strength, so he worked as a porter at the Hankou wharf.

In the 50s and 60s of the last century, there were frequent movements, and Liu Wensheng did things for the Kuomintang.
The financial constraints, the difficulty of supporting his family, and the endless criticism and fighting made Liu Wensheng lose the courage to live. On September 13, 1958, Liu Wensheng committed suicide by throwing himself into the river in Wuhan, when Liu Dahua was not yet 9 years old.
The tragic early death of his father pushed Liu Dahua's family into great grief. Liu Dahua's mother did not remarry after that, and while working in the Red Star Rubber Factory, she sewed and mended for others, and struggled to pull her three sons and one daughter.
Liu Dahua's eldest brother is called Liu Dazhong, and the second brother is called Liu Dachang, and the three brothers all love to play chess.

This seemingly clumsy exercise laid the foundation for Liu Dahua's future "Oriental Computer".
Liu Dahua's mother often pasted matchboxes at home at night to earn money to subsidize the family. Liu Dahua and his two elder brothers each have to paste 1,000 matchboxes per night, earning enough for 4 cents and 8 cents, and the family often pastes matchboxes until late at night.
In the early 60s of the last century, Liu Dahua and his two elder brothers often participated in chess competitions at the Hanyang Workers' Cultural Palace and Qiaokou Cultural Center, and could hardly find opponents. Liu Dahua and his two elder brothers are known as the "Three Heroes of the Liu Family".

Liu Dahua and his two elder brothers fought in the ring to guard the three levels, Liu Dahua took the first pass, Liu Dachang took the second pass, and Liu Dazhong took the third pass.
There were 8 players who broke through the level and fought, but they were all defeated by Liu Dahua, and they didn't pass the first level.
More than 600 spectators watched the chess at the scene, which was very lively. For this reason, the "Wuhan Evening News" made a detailed report, and the "Liu's Three Heroes" became even more famous.
In this competition, Liu Dahua and his two brothers won a pack of dim sum each, and the three brothers were reluctant to eat it, so they took it home and gave it to their mother. The mother ate the snacks brought back by her three sons, with tears in her eyes, but her heart was sweet.
