Huai Jinpeng said that we will condense major scientific and technological issues from the national strategic needs, continue to produce original and disruptive scientific and technological innovation achievements, put the cultivation of talents urgently needed by major national strategies in a prominent position, accelerate the establishment of scientific and technological development, national strategy as the traction of the discipline adjustment mechanism and talent training model, better strengthen the training of top-notch innovative talents, and improve the adaptation mechanism between talent training and economic and social development needs. Vigorously promote the transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements in colleges and universities, lay out and build regional technology transfer and transformation centers in colleges and universities across the country, and strengthen the construction of national university science and technology parks and international scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation. Dynamically adjust the requirements of undergraduate disciplines and majors, and work the three adaptation degrees

In the process of promoting the high-quality development of higher education, how to scientifically and reasonably adjust and optimize the setting of undergraduate majors? In response, Wu Yan, Vice Minister of Education, said that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Education has accelerated the adjustment and optimization of the professional structure. In the past 12 years, 21,000 new undergraduate majors have been added, and 12,000 majors that are not suitable for economic and social development have been withdrawn or suspended. "This year, we have added 1,673 professional locations urgently needed by the national strategy, and cancelled 1,670 professional locations that are not suitable for economic and social development, and the adjustment should be said to be unprecedented."

Wu Yan pointed out that in the next step, the Ministry of Education will dynamically adjust the requirements of disciplines and majors in accordance with the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the just-concluded National Education Conference, and work three adaptations:

First, it is necessary to improve the adaptability of the construction of undergraduate majors to the urgent needs of the national strategy. First of all, it is necessary to deepen the construction of the "four new", which refers to the construction of new engineering, new medicine, new agriculture, and new liberal arts. Second, we should focus on the frontier of science and technology and key national strategic areas, lay out emerging majors, expand the distribution of urgently needed majors, especially improve the responsiveness of colleges and universities to high-quality development in the professional setting and talent training, and cultivate national strategic talents and urgently needed talents in a more targeted manner.

Second, it is necessary to improve the degree of adaptability between the professional construction of colleges and universities, especially local colleges and universities, and regional development. At the beginning of this year, in Heilongjiang, Zhejiang, Henan, Chongqing, Shaanxi and other provinces and cities, the evaluation of the matching degree between the professional setting of colleges and universities and regional development was carried out, and the scope will be further expanded next year. Through this initiative, we will actively promote the creation of advantageous and characteristic professional clusters in combination with the development of the region, especially the actual industrial development, and build a linkage development mechanism between higher education and industrial clusters, so as to better serve regional development.

Third, it is necessary to improve the adaptability of the construction of undergraduate majors to the all-round development of students. It will empower the construction of professional connotation with artificial intelligence, optimize the talent training program in a targeted manner, improve the professional knowledge map and ability map, and comprehensively improve the quality of education and teaching. Promote colleges and universities to correctly grasp the relationship between knowledge learning and all-round development (the relationship between intellectual education and moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic and labor "five education"), strengthen the cultivation of core literacy, and strive to cultivate new talents of the era who have both ability and political integrity, physical and mental health, vigor and vitality, and chase dreams.

Huai Jinpeng introduced that these all show the important role of China's higher education as the main force of national basic research and the source of major scientific and technological breakthroughs. Colleges and universities have also made positive contributions to philosophical and social science research and the sustainable development of culture and art, and their ability to educate people and create art has been continuously enhanced. At the same time, the international influence of China's education has become more prominent. We have signed agreements on mutual recognition of academic qualifications and degrees with 59 countries and regions, and the national smart education platform has provided services to more than 10 million overseas users in more than 200 countries.
