From August 14 to August 22, 2024, the Shanghai Municipal Consumer Protection Commission searched for and selected third-party home appliance repairers approved or recommended by the platform on AutoNavi Map and Baidu Map with "air conditioning maintenance" as the keyword. The test scenario is set to a faulty remote control of the air conditioner, which causes the remote control to fail to operate the air conditioner.
👉 The results of the unannounced visit showed that the three repair providers found through AutoNavi Map all had false quotations, false repairs and fictitious faults and other behaviors that seriously damaged the rights and interests of consumers.
Specifically, the first maintenance staff falsely claimed that the motherboard was damaged and lacked refrigerant, and repaired it by tinkering with the internal machine and falsely adding liquid, and charged 680 yuan. However, after the expert identification, the so-called liquid addition actually released part of the air conditioning refrigerant. The second repairer also lied that the motherboard was damaged and charged 547 yuan. The third maintenance staff falsely claimed that the air conditioner sensor was damaged and replaced the sensor, but in fact cut the sensor cable and re-bandaged it with a cloth, charging 400 yuan.
👉 In addition to false repairs and high-priced charges, the Shanghai Municipal Consumer Protection Commission also found a large number of false addresses of home appliance repair merchants marked on AutoNavi Map and Baidu Map. 74 of the 178 home appliance maintenance information in AutoNavi Map are suspected of being false, accounting for 41.6%; 65 of the 164 home appliance maintenance information on Baidu Maps are suspected of being false, accounting for 39.6%. For example, the address of the merchant "Julan Electric Appliance Maintenance Service Department (Yinxing Community Store)" searched on the AutoNavi map was displayed as "Yinxing Community, No. 1-31, Lane 1550, Shuiqing Road, Minhang District", but it was found to be false information after on-site investigation.
