On September 26, Yin Boxue, general manager of OceanBase's public cloud business department, introduced the development of OB Cloud in the past two years. Yin Boxue said that since its launch two years ago, OB Cloud has served more than 700 customers, with a year-on-year increase of 130% in customer numbers, with the largest single-cluster data scale of more than 1.2PB and the largest single-cluster CPU core exceeding 6,400 cores.
According to Gartner, the global market share of cloud databases is growing, reaching 61% of the overall market share in 2023. In the field of cloud databases, OceanBase is making its mark. According to Yin Boxue, OB Cloud adopts an integrated technology stack design, which not only realizes flexible scaling and cost-effective large-scale optimization, but also has industry-leading business continuity assurance and HTAP real-time analysis capabilities, which adapts to the needs of users for smooth migration from traditional databases to the cloud, building a multi-cloud disaster recovery system, and coping with high concurrency challenges. At present, OB Cloud is providing consistent cloud database services around the world, covering more than 100 availability zones in more than 30 geographical regions in the Americas, Europe, and Asia, supporting mainstream public cloud infrastructure such as Alibaba Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Huawei Cloud, and Tencent Cloud, and seamlessly adapting to cloud technology stacks such as big data and DevOps. In addition, OB Cloud actively cooperates with industry ISVs to create more comprehensive service scenarios. According to statistics, OB Cloud has served more than 700 customers, with a year-on-year increase of 130% in customer years, including Xiaomi, Li Auto, SAIC Volkswagen, vivo, Pop Mart, Haidilao, China Duty Free Rishang, AutoNavi, Ctrip, GCash, PalmPay and other overseas e-wallets, especially favored by retail, payment and manufacturing customers. "OB Cloud's customers have a small to large data volume, with the largest single cluster having more than 6,400 CPU cores and the largest single cluster data scale exceeding 1.2PB, which means that OB Cloud has the ability to meet customers' business growth needs from small to large-scale." Yin Boxue said. In 2022, Haidilao chose to adopt OB Cloud in the membership system, and after one year of stable operation of the system, it will continue to carry OB Cloud to upgrade the purchase, sale and inventory database, significantly reducing costs and increasing efficiency, while more calmly coping with traffic peaks, increasing real-time analysis computing power by 45% and saving the overall cost of the database by 50%. In 2023, the core system of the African e-wallet PalmPay will be equipped with OB Cloud and officially put into use. It not only successfully coped with the growth rate of tens of millions of users, but also reduced the cost of the core accounting database by 86%, and the overall monthly expenditure of the database decreased by 80%. Based on OB Cloud's rapid development and extensive application practices in the past two years, OB Cloud has been selected as one of only 10 Gartner Magic Quadrants for Cloud Database Management Systems "Honorable Mention", as well as the 2024 Gartner Cloud Database Asia Pacific "Customers' Choice" and "Outstanding Performer" in the world. OceanBase is a native distributed database developed by Ant Group, which was commercialized in 2020 after more than 10 years of internal scenario testing. At the beginning of this year, OceanBase set up a board of directors and began to operate independently.
