Manchester City thrashed Bratislava 4-0 on Tuesday night.
In a game that was rarely a real game, Manchester City took an early lead thanks to goals from Ilkay· Gundogan and Phil· Foden, and the Premier League leaders never looked back. Erling · Haaland scored a goal shortly after the start of the second half, before young James · McCarty scored to take all three points.
How the game unfolded
Bratislava almost provided a shocking start to the game, with Tigran · Barceguiyan finding some space on the counter-attack and firing a shot just wide of Stefan · Ortega in the opening two minutes. However, City quickly took control and took the lead through Gundogan, whose volley from the edge of the box was wickedly deflected away from goalkeeper Dominic · Takac.
In the 15th minute, City doubled their advantage through Foden. The England international found an inch inside the box and fired a perfect shot into the bottom corner. Jeremy · Doku hit that angle as City searched for a third goal, with Gundogan following on the edge of the box and hitting the crossbar with a powerful shot seven minutes before half-time.
Haaland headed wide with a header shortly after the start of the second half, his eighth touch. However, he made up for it almost immediately, bypassing the goalkeeper and slotting into the empty net. With 16 minutes remaining, James · McCarty scored a fourth goal from close range to secure a beautiful victory for Pep Guardiola's side.
