The highest altitude in the world! Complete the hoisting

CCTV reporter Gu Junling: I am now at the construction site of Datang Basu Wind Power Station, and after six months of hard work, all 20 wind turbines have been hoisted. Enter the final equipment commissioning stage before going into production.

This wind power project is the first wind power project in southeast Tibet, planning to build 20 5 MW wind turbines, of which the highest unit is at an altitude of 5,200 meters, which is currently the highest altitude wind power project under construction in the world. Since the start of the project in April this year, it has taken six months to complete the hoisting operation of all 20 wind turbines, and it is expected that the grid-connected power generation will be realized by the end of this month. This wind power project can take on the task of generating electricity under the condition that the local hydropower and photovoltaic power generation conditions are not good, which can not only effectively optimize Tibet's energy structure, but more importantly, ensure the safe supply of local electricity during the peak winter electricity consumption period.

Wang Honglang, commander-in-chief of Datang Basu Wind Power Project: After the project is put into operation, it can generate 223 million kilowatt-hours of electricity a year, which is equivalent to saving 73,100 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 182,800 tons. The annual power generation capacity can meet the annual electricity consumption of 5,700 three-person families.
