The hangar where the Israeli F-35 fighter is located was blown out by an Iran missile.
Satellite imagery taken on October 2 local time shows damage to the Nevatim Air Base in southern Israel.
The hangar was blown out of a large hole by an Iran missile
From the image, a large hole has been broken in the roof of a hangar near the base's main runway, and large pieces of debris can be seen scattered around the building. The Israeli army has not yet commented on the reasons for this damage. However, during Iran's large-scale missile attack on Israel on the night of October 1, witnesses captured videos of suspected missiles hitting Nevatim Air Base.
It is home to the most advanced aircraft of the Air Force
Nevatim Air Base is known to be home to the Israel Air Force's most advanced aircraft, including United States-made F-35 Lightning II stealth fighters. The base was also damaged in Iran's attack on Israel in mid-April.
Judging by the satellite imagery, it is not yet clear whether there were planes in the hangar when it was hit.
The Israeli side said that the military aircraft was not damaged
Israel media quoted military sources as reporting on October 2 that an Israeli air base was indeed hit by Iran missiles, causing damage to maintenance hangars and other facilities, but "Israeli military aircraft and infrastructure were not damaged."
