It is understandable that people go to high places and water flows to low places, and it is understandable to go abroad to work in places that make more money, but you will never think that more than 1.2 million Chinese are working in Viet Nam, and they are not willing to return to China without making much money.
Some foreigners go to the mainland to work to make money, and naturally many people on the mainland go abroad to work abroad, and Viet Nam has attracted a large number of Chinese citizens to work here to make money.
It stands to reason that Viet Nam's economic development is not as good as that of the mainland, and it is the first choice to return to China after completing the work and earning money, but more than 1.2 million migrant workers stay in Viet Nam and do not want to return to China.
The current situation in Viet Nam and the Chinese working part-time
For a period of time in history, the relationship between the mainland and Viet Nam went from good to bad, and even fought a 10-year war, and since then the relationship between the two countries has not been very good.
Later, with economic globalization and the rapid development of the mainland's economy to attract neighboring countries to integrate into the economic circle, the relationship between Viet Nam and the mainland gradually improved, and the business and trade exchanges between the two countries became more frequent.
However, compared with the economic development level of the mainland, the overall level of Viet Nam is still relatively backward, relatively close to the development situation of the mainland at the end of the last century or the beginning of this century.
Compared with the mainland, it is a bit backward, but compared with previous years, Viet Nam's current economic development can be said to be a lot of progress, and with it, the quality of life of Viet Nam is also improving.
Especially in recent years, with the intensification of the Sino-US trade war, science and technology war, financial war, etc., many foreign companies have withdrawn their factories from the mainland and moved to Southeast Asia to continue their development in order to avoid being United States to impose high tariffs.
Viet Nam is one of the countries with the greatest benefits, because of the border with the mainland, and it is also trying to learn from the mainland to develop its economy, so many foreign companies leave the mainland and move to Viet Nam to continue production.
The large influx of foreign-funded enterprises has brought new vitality to Viet Nam's economy and attracted many Chinese to work and earn money. Many of these workers were attracted by the large number of foreign-funded enterprises.
When these companies were in China, many local people worked in factories, and later the companies moved to Viet Nam, and they could not find enough skilled workers in a short period of time, so they had to bring the original workers over.
Another reason is that Viet Nam has a small number of people, and after a large influx of foreign-funded enterprises, they cannot recruit enough people, which forces these enterprises to recruit from outside.
The combination of multiple factors provides opportunities for mainlanders to work in Viet Nam. Some time ago, some videos were leaked on the Internet, claiming that China's industrial chain was no longer working, and a large number of Chinese ran to Viet Nam to work.
At that time, these videos, which were reprinted by the "colonizers" in large numbers to slander the mainland, appeared in this context. Of course, there are certainly Chinese who go to Viet Nam to work, but a large number of "fleeing China" is absolutely fictional.
Compared with China, Viet Nam is still far behind in terms of economy, after all, after 10 years of self-defense and counterattack war against Vietnam, the mainland can not be affected, but Viet Nam is bound to be greatly affected.
Even if the economic development is not as good as that of the mainland, some Chinese will choose to stay there and not want to come back after going to Viet Nam. Statistics show that more than 1.2 million people are currently working in Viet Nam, and a large number of them hope to live here permanently in the future.
What is the reason why these people want to live in Viet Nam for a long time if they do not come back from China with better conditions, but are willing to stay in a place where the economy is not as good as China's?
The reason for staying in Viet Nam and not wanting to return to China
It can be confirmed that it is impossible for these people to make a lot of money in Viet Nam, because the labor cost in Viet Nam is much lower than that of the mainland, and with these Viet Nam people as the foundation, it is impossible for the mainland to get a high salary for migrant workers who run to Viet Nam.
Just like in the eighties and nineties of the 20th century, when the mainland became a processing place for cheap products with a huge demographic dividend, "sweatshops" have been criticized until now, and Viet Nam is very similar to the original mainland.
Therefore, the wages of mainland workers in Viet Nam are not as high as imagined, and in most cases they can only get a salary equivalent to three or four thousand yuan, which is even worse than in China.
The reason why low wages can also attract a large number of Chinese to stay in Viet Nam is mainly due to the following reasons:
First of all, Chinese migrant workers have better room for development when they come to Viet Nam. When in China, many people may just be ordinary assembly line workers, or the lowest managers such as team leaders.
But when these experienced people arrived in Viet Nam, they immediately became sought-after goods, and the Chinese who entered the factory got basically higher jobs than they did in China before.
From the original ordinary employees, to become managers, although not middle and senior managers, but the status is much higher than in China, even if the salary level has not been greatly improved, but the position of managers is also very attractive.
Just imagine, under the same salary level, on one side is the manager, on the other hand, there is a manager, how most people will choose, it is not difficult to guess.
Secondly, the cost of living in Viet Nam is lower than in China. Many of us have a misconception that it is not easy to live abroad, and all kinds of costs will be higher than those at home.
If you travel abroad, you are going to consume, which will indeed exist in the above situation, but if you go abroad to work to make money and live in a foreign country for a long time, the cost of living may not be higher than that in China.
What's more, Viet Nam's economic development is not as good as that of the mainland, and the cost of living is much lower than that of China. A salary of three or four thousand yuan may only be enough to barely make ends meet in many parts of the country, but in Viet Nam it is enough to live a good life.
Except for a few big cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the rest of Viet Nam is relatively cheap, two to three thousand yuan a month, and you can live well.
Third, the pressure of life is small, and the problem of buying a house and getting married is much easier than in China. Rising housing prices have discouraged many Chinese people, and for most Chinese people, it is a common situation to empty the wallets of the three families to barely make up for a down payment.
There is not so much pressure to buy a house in Viet Nam, and Chinese workers in Viet Nam are relatively high-income groups, and the pressure to buy a house is naturally much less than in China.
Without the pressure of more than one million mortgages, there is no need to worry about the high loan repayment amount every month, and life is naturally easier. In addition, although there are more women and men in Viet Nam, Chinese working in Viet Nam are obviously more competitive than Viet Nam locals.
The idea of admiring foreign countries is not only common to Chinese, but also serious to Viet Nam. Men who are not competitive in China may also be sought-after goods in Viet Nam, and many Viet Nam women rush to marry.
Living in Viet Nam for a long time also has many challenges
Although Viet Nam is attractive in many aspects compared to China, as a foreigner living in Viet Nam for a long time, there are also many difficulties, such as language and culture, living habits and future development.
As a person who has been accustomed to speaking Chinese since childhood, language is a threshold that cannot be bypassed to survive and develop abroad, especially for those who are preparing to live in Viet Nam for a long time, learning Viet Nam is necessary.
But learning a new language instead of a native language that has been used for decades is a huge challenge for many people, because language is not so easy to grasp.
In addition, there are also big differences between living habits and those in China, and integrating into a new society and changing the original living habits is destined to be a painful process of change.
Although Viet Nam is also in the Confucian cultural circle, it has been greatly influenced by the mainland in history, and even a state in the south of the mainland most of the time, but there are still differences in history and culture, and it is not easy to fully integrate.
If you really want to settle in Viet Nam for a long time, even your nationality must be changed, otherwise it is impossible to change your visa frequently. Once you lose your Chinese nationality, you will face a lot of trouble if you want to return to China.
Relatives and friends are all in China, and I went to Viet Nam alone, and I had to go through a lot of trouble if I wanted to go home to see. Being alone in a foreign land as a stranger, it is difficult to return to China during the festive season.
Last but not least, Viet Nam is still in the development period, but no one can guarantee what the future will be, after all, not every country can replicate the economic miracle of the mainland.
Although Viet Nam is now trying to imitate the mainland's development model, even many policy documents are directly copied from the mainland, so much so that there is a farce of mainland place names in the documents issued by the government.
However, oranges born in Huainan are oranges, and those born in Huaibei are oranges, and the economic policies issued by the mainland are applicable to the situation of the mainland, but Viet Nam copies them, which may not be able to fully adapt to the actual situation in Viet Nam.
In the end, the blow to Viet Nam's economy will be very serious and difficult to reverse. At present, Viet Nam is in a period of economic transition and also has a huge labor cost advantage, but it is unknown whether there is enough room for development in the future, or whether it can create an economic miracle like the mainland.
Development opportunities are often fleeting, and the fact that the mainland was able to create miracles does not mean that every country can create miracles. As the pattern of globalization deepens and the division of labor between countries becomes clearer, the solidification of classes between countries may have emerged.
Among Southeast Asian countries, there are many countries with better relations with the mainland, and the mainland cannot always lead Viet Nam to develop, on August 5, 2024, Cambodia's Dechong Funan Canal held a groundbreaking ceremony, which is an important project aided by the mainland.
Compared with Viet Nam, the mainland will definitely give priority to supporting countries with more friendly relations with the mainland, and without the mainland's drive, Viet Nam's economic development will inevitably be affected.
Viet Nam's development may not be as good as that of neighboring countries in the future, which adds huge variables to long-term living in Viet Nam. Deciding to change your nationality now and live in Viet Nam for a long time may not be a good choice in the future.
