Chen Boshi, formerly known as Chen Gang, now lives in Shichahai, Xicheng District, Beijing. He studied under Wu Guanzhong and Liang Shunian. After learning oil painting, he later studied traditional Chinese painting with Liang Shunian, and followed sketching exhibitions in various places, which further deepened his understanding and skills of landscape painting. His artistic achievements are not only reflected in the traditional landscape, but also the combination of Chinese and Western into the landscape, and the Jiangnan water town technique taught by Wu Guanzhong has been innovated in Chinese painting, forming his own unique "new Jiangnan water town" style.
He and Bai Xueshi are the same brothers, and he has followed Bai Xueshi to hold many joint exhibitions, sketches, etc., and also absorbed the essence of Bai Xueshi's Lijiang River landscape, and incorporated the essence of various types of paintings, evolving into his own "scattered ink" painting method, showing what he has learned and seen to the fullest.
In 1968, he studied oil painting techniques systematically with Mr. Wu Guanzhong and studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
In 1970, he was admitted to Tianjin Academy of Arts (now Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts)
In 1974, he systematically studied Chinese painting under Liang Shunian, and followed sketching exhibitions in various places, which further deepened his understanding and skills of landscape painting.
In 1977, he held his first solo exhibition at Tianjin Academy of Arts (now Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts) with the following guests: Wu Guanzhong, Liang Shunian, Bai Xueshi, etc
In 1979, the teacher's "Beautiful Scenery Drunk Jiangnan" and "Lijiang Dream Landscape" were selected by the People's Fine Arts Publishing House to publish a collection of famous paintings
In 1980, he was hired as a visiting professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and taught at CAFA.
In 1985, his work "Jiangnan Love" won the silver medal in the Sino-French Art Exhibition
In 1988, he went to France to study oil painting
In 1993, he held a solo exhibition at the National Art Museum of China
In 2002, he participated in the calligraphy and painting exhibition to celebrate the third anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland
