On October 28 last year, according to a number of media sources, actor Matthew ·· Perry, who played "Chandler Bin in the United States well-known sitcom "Friends", died at the age of 54. According to the report, the actor, who is loved by the audience, was found drowned in the bathtub of his Los Angeles home.
On October 5, the reporter recently learned that according to foreign media reports, Mark ·Chavez, a 54-year-old doctor in San Diego, United States, became the third person to confess in the death of "Friends" actor Matthew · Perry by drug overdose.
Matthew · Perry
Dr. Mark ·Chavez, 54, pleaded guilty to felony charges of conspiracy to distribute the surgical anesthetic ketamine in federal court in Los Angeles on Oct. 2 after striking a plea deal with prosecutors in July, according to reports. Chávez agreed to cooperate with the United States Attorney's Office in bringing more serious charges against Dr. · Plasencia of El Salvador. Prosecutors said Plasencia gave ketamine directly to Matthew. Prosecutors are currently trying to convict two larger targets who they believe are responsible for Matthew's death.
Another major target of the investigation is Jasmine · Sanga, whom prosecutors say is known as the "ketamine queen" of Los Angeles and who provided the agent that killed Matthew last year.
The media previously reported that on October 28, 2023 local time, "Friends" actor Matthew · Perry was found dead at home at the age of 54. In December of the same year, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office announced the cause of Matthew · Perry's death. The post-mortem report revealed that Matthew had died of "acute effects of ketamine" and the exact method of ingestion was unknown. In response, the Los Angeles Police Department, in conjunction with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration and the United States Postal Inspectorate, began investigating the source of the ketamine used by Matthew during his lifetime.
Over the years, Matthew has been trying to break free from his dependence on drugs and drugs, and he has been in and out of drug rehabilitation centers several times to get rid of his addiction. On August 15 this year, the Los Angeles District Attorney in United States disclosed that investigators believe Matthew unfortunately "became addicted to drugs again" in the fall of 2023. As a result, several people who were considered "friends" by Matthew formed an "underground drug network", and they conspired to lure Matthew into drugs, seek money, and at the same time, overdraft his health and eventually lead to his death.
After United States police investigation and evidence collection, in September 2023, after learning that Matthew was addicted to drugs and was asking for ketamine, El Salvador · Plasencia, a doctor from Santa Monica, found a doctor from San Diego, Mark · Chavez. It is understood that Mark · Chavez had previously opened a ketamine clinic, and he purchased ketamine in large quantities from pharmaceutical companies by counterfeiting patient prescriptions, and then provided it to Plasencia. In September and October 2023, Plasencia provided ketamine to Matthew's live-in personal assistants, Kenneth · Iwamasa, on seven occasions.
In addition, United States prosecutors confirmed that on October 28, 2023, after Matthew was found dead at home, Sanga, the "queen of ketamine," in order to cover up the evidence, texted the intermediary who provided drugs, saying, "Delete all our chat messages." At the same time, the doctor, Plasencia, also went into action, falsifying medical records to make all his prescriptions and operations appear legitimate. But the police still saw their flaws in the investigation.
At present, Matthew's personal assistant Iwamasa, the doctor Mark ·Chavez, and the drug supply middleman Eric · Fleming have all pleaded guilty.
The doctor, Plasencia, and the "ketamine queen" Sanga have pleaded not guilty and have been arrested by the police. The trial dates for the two suspects are tentatively scheduled for October. Plasencia's bail is US$100,000 (about 710,000 yuan), while Sanga has been asked by prosecutors not to bail because he is suspected of absconding.
Prosecutors have filed multiple charges against the five defendants, including conspiracy to distribute ketamine, ketamine causing death, drug harboring, tampering and falsifying records related to a federal investigation, and multiple drug-related charges.
