On the other end of the phone, Xiao Zhang, who learned the results of this year's high school entrance examination, first thought of reporting the good news to Chen Liangshun, a community police officer of the Jiaxing Road Police Station of the Hongkou Public Security Branch of the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau.

This is a hard-won achievement. In 2023, Xiao Zhang, who is still in his third year of junior high school, has repeatedly clashed with his mother due to study problems, and his family has called the police many times. "There's so much difference between dealing with a dispute and saving a child." As a community policeman, Chen Liangshun does not care about his parents' shortcomings, but he can't tolerate himself standing by and watching. "Once, after I brought a child back on track, my parents thanked me with tears in their eyes, and I couldn't let go of this career after that."

Over the years, Chen Liang has successfully used his spare time to help "troubled youth" in the community, interviewing more than 70 families, and focusing on pairing up to help 15 children. At the same time, he tried to pass the "key" to more people, and led the Hongkou District Public Security Bureau to lead 9 "Police Brothers and Sisters Listen to You" community juvenile service team to pair up with more than 50 teenagers to help, and so far 17 people have completed the assistance and 3 people have been admitted to universities.

"To save people is to save hearts"

"The family is a concentric circle, and the center of the circle is often the child. Once the center of the circle is shifted, it will be difficult for the family to be satisfied, which in turn will affect the stability of the community. In the work of community visits and conflict mediation, Chen Liangshun gradually realized that "saving a child is saving a family".

In 2020, resident Lao Gui begged Chen Liangshun to "save his son". Chen Liangshun learned that Lao Gui had a middle-aged child, and he loved and had high hopes for his son Xiaoyuan, but recently found that Xiao Yuan, who was in the third year of junior high school, had plummeted, and it turned out that he was obsessed with "mobile games". Seeing that his son did not listen to the dissuasion, Lao Gui resorted to a killer trick - disconnecting the network, which completely intensified the contradiction. Xiao Yuan repeatedly quarreled with his parents and went on hunger strike 5 times.

Chen Liangshun came to the door urgently, he knew that "to save people is to save the heart", if the door is forcibly broken, it will be the child's heart door that will be completely closed. So he patiently chatted with Xiao Yuan through the door, chatting with Xiao Yuan's favorite games, talking about operation skills, game skins, and professional competitions...... After more than 3 hours, Xiao Yuan finally opened the door to see the confidant, and promised on the spot not to go on a hunger strike in the future, nor to lock the door again, and to wait for the police to solve the problem.

"Disputes cannot be resolved all at once, and only by listening continuously can we enter the hearts of children." Since then, Chen Liangshun has come to the door whenever he is free. In more than a month, he came to the door more than 40 times, and his relationship with Xiao Yuan became deeper and deeper. Chen Liangshun's help allowed Xiao Yuan to resume his studies, and his grades were reversed, and he was admitted to a key middle school in the district. Today, Xiao Yuan is a college student majoring in network engineering.

Do a good job as the leader of the "seedling protection" team

After Chen Liangshun and the Jiaxing Road Police Station's practice of caring for "troubled youths" was promoted by the Hongkou District Public Security Bureau throughout the district, the "Police Brothers and Sisters Listen to You" community youth service teams of each police station came into being.

As the leader of the "Seedling Protection" team, Chen Liangshun led the team to find out the teenagers in the jurisdiction who have mental health risks, prominent family conflicts, bad habits and other problems, and intervened to help.

In July 2023, there were several cases of theft of high-end sneakers from residents in Hongkou District, for which the police station deployed police forces to wait for an ambush. Xiao Huang, whose parents divorced and was raised by his grandmother since he was a child, used to be an honor student, but after entering the rebellious period of adolescence, he mingled with some idle people in society all day long, and his grades plummeted. So, Liu Fang and his colleague Wei Xiaohong came to the door and listened to Xiaohuang's grandmother talk about the difficulties and worries of raising her grandson. During this period, Xiao Huang's door is always closed, what should I do? Chen Liangshun gave timely support to the players. In his view, every child is like a lock, with a unique key that must be tailored to each other. When he learned that it would be Xiao Huang's 18th birthday in a few days, he immediately had an idea. On that day, Chen Liangshun and his colleagues came to celebrate Xiao Huang's birthday with gifts, and Xiao Huang finally opened his heart.

At the same time, Chen Liangshun arranged for Wei Xiaohong to keep an eye on Xiao Huang's movements every day to prevent him from interacting with idle people in society, and Liu Fang was responsible for finding out the situation of these people, and the police station organized forces to crack down. He is responsible for contacting the Youth League Committee and bringing in college student volunteers to provide study guidance for Xiao Huang. At present, the service team has not only brought together 25 professional backbones who are familiar with the psychology of teenagers and have strong ability to work with the masses, but also recruited more than 110 police officers with professional backgrounds such as psychological counseling and law, carried out 17 "parent classes", and taught communication skills to more than 200 families.

Explore the "three linkage" mechanism

In November 2023, the principal of an elementary school asked Chen Liangshun for help: Xiao Xu often bullied his classmate Xiao Gu, and Xiao Gu's parents asked the school to punish Xiao Xu and let him change classes or change schools - the conflict between the two children escalated into a conflict between two families or even between home and school.

Chen Liangshun launched the "three schools linkage" mechanism, inviting external counselors, people's mediators, lawyers, prosecutors, as well as representatives of the school and the parent committee to help communicate with parents. After holding 4 mediation meetings in a row, Xiao Xu and his parents sincerely apologized, Xiao Gu's parents' attitude eased, and Chen Liangshun also launched a "correction plan" in a timely manner: that is, Xiao Xu did at least one good deed every week and recorded it. Every Friday afternoon after that, Chen Liangshun would go to school to "check his homework". Under the supervision of the policeman's brother, Xiao Xu took the initiative to clean up, help his classmates, and be enthusiastic about public welfare, which greatly improved. Xiao Gu's parents finally decided not to blame the past.

Caring for "troubled youth" is a two-way street. Xiao Yuan, a former Internet addict teenager, has now become Chen Liangshun's right-hand man, often assisting Chen Liangshun in relieving those children who were as rebellious as he was in the past; With the help of Chen Liangshun, a "chicken baby mother" rebuilt the parent-child relationship, listened to his suggestion to study child psychology and become a psychological counselor, and said that "as long as Officer Chen is in need, I will be on call" ...... on the road to "protect the seedlings".
